Brendan Sorsby is eligible again, and the Heisman odds noticed in a hurry. A Texas judge cleared the Texas Tech quarterback to play this fall, and the number the books had pulled when he stepped away is back on the board.
Here’s where his price landed at each book, and whether it’s worth a ticket.

Sorsby reopened right around the same 20/1 to 25/1 band he sat at before the gambling news. The market clearly treats the legal mess as settled enough to bet on.
The three books don’t agree on his number, though. BetMGM has the shortest price at +2000, FanDuel sits in the middle at +2200, and DraftKings dangles the longest at +2500.
That’s a wide spread for the same player. BetMGM’s +2000 bakes in about a 5% implied chance, while the DraftKings number drops that closer to 4%. If you want him, DraftKings’ price is the best value.

He’s a long way down the board. Nine players sit ahead of him, led by CJ Carr and Arch Manning up top.
2026 Heisman Odds: Top Contenders
The talent is there. Sorsby threw for 2,800 yards with 27 touchdowns and just five picks at Cincinnati last season, and he ran for nine more scores.
Stretch it over his two years with the Bearcats, and the numbers pop even more. He racked up 5,613 passing yards and 45 touchdowns against only 12 interceptions, and that production should travel to a Texas Tech offense built to put up points.

Is There Value in Sorsby’s Heisman Odds?
Two things give me pause. Sorsby misses the opener against Abilene Christian and the trip to Oregon State, so that’s two games of production his competition banks before he takes a snap. And in a race this loaded, falling that far behind on volume is tough to overcome.
Then there’s the voter perception piece. Some voters won’t put their name next to his after the gambling case, no matter how he plays, and that’s a real drag on a longshot ticket.
None of that means he can’t put up the best statistical season in the country. It just means the award is a tough road, and he has less margin than the names ahead of him.
I’d rather back him where his team does the talking. Tech to win the Big 12 at -135 is the safer Sorsby play than chasing the Heisman.
