Race 1 - 11:40am
Anjana is a dominant favourite for a reason. She ran serious time when she won at Ballarat in dominant fashion last start and she is a filly with plenty of scope for improvement. Damian Lane will be able to settle her right on the speed in the early stages of this race and on exposed form she has a big edge over her rivals.

William Thomas has gone to another level this campaign and you simply can’t knock his record. He has been freshened-up since his impressive win at Caulfield and the form coming out of that race has been very strong. Damian Lane will be able to settle him just behind the speed from barrier three and there is no reason why he can’t continue on his winning ways.

Race 3 - 12:50pm
There are a number of quality gallopers in this field and it is one of the most interesting races of the afternoon. It has been a long time between race starts for Moonlites Choice, but she is a mare with an excellent first-up record and her recent barrier trial win at Werribee suggests that she is fairly forward for her racing return. She always looked like a mare that had black-type potential and if she can return to the races at close to her best form she will prove tough to beat.

You’ve Been Had has recorded four wins from his five race starts and he is unbeaten over 1000 metres. He will need to do some work to get across from the wide barrier draw, but he does have plenty of early speed and The Valley is the ideal track for him. If Ben Melham is able to find the front, he will prove tough to run down.

Race 5 - 2:05pm
Jamaican Rain is the class mare in this field and she is clearly the horse to beat. She returned to the races with a very soft six lengths win at Cranbourne and she is a mare that has the scope to improve on that performance. The Manhattan Rain mare is on trial for the Tatt’s Tiara and if she is going to be competitive in a race like that she should be able to win this contest comfortably.

He may be a rising 11-year-old, but this doesn’t look like a bad race for Jacquinot Bay. He was only narrowly denied by Riyadh at his last start and before that he chased home the flying Life Less Ordinary at Flemington. His record at The Valley isn’t great, but he does look to get a lovely run right on the speed and he will run his usual honest race.

Race 7 - 3:25pm
My Nordic Hero may have been beaten by almost five lengths at Flemington last start, but that was by a flying Boom Time and there is no horse of that quality in this field. He has drawn wide, but that could actually be an advantage as he seems like a horse that likes to bowl along without being boxed in. This is the weakest race that he has contested for a while and he has an excellent opportunity to return to winning form.

Race 8 - 4:05pm
Iconoclasm has recorded five wins from his seven race starts and he heads into this contest on the back of three straight victories. He has improved each time that he has been seen at the races and on his recent form he does have a genuine edge over the rest of this field. Ethan Brown has plenty of experience riding at The Valley and he should be able to pilot the Toorak Toff colt to another race win.

Race 9 - 4:35pm
Inn Keeper is another progressive galloper that just keeps on winning. He made the leap to metropolitan level last start when he won at Caulfield and he is a horse that is still on the way up. Linda Meech will ride him aggressively from the wide barrier draw to ensure that he settles right on the speed and he is well-placed to score a fourth straight victory.
