This Weekend in Sport – 2nd August – 5th August

As we enter August the NRL and AFL seasons begin their home stretch and there is still plenty on the line in terms of finals. It is local derby round in the AFL with a Showdown in Adelaide Saturday afternoon before a Western Derby at Optus Stadium on Sunday to close out Round 20. In the NRL just six points separate first and eighth so every team currently in the top eight knows how important each game is. The Super Rugby season reaches its conclusion and it is the Crusaders in the final (for what feels like the millionth time) as they face the Lions from South Africa, who are in the final for the third straight season and seeking their first win. Randwick hosts to the Missile Stakes this weekend and a star-studded field looks set to run including Kementari and She Will Reign. MLB – Red Sox World Series Favourites Following Trade Deadline

One of the best parts of the seven month baseball season is the trade period. Spanning across two weeks from the middle of July to the very first day of August, MLB’s trade deadline is a chaotic time for players and fans, but it can also provide plenty of clarity for punters looking to cash in early on the World Series market. It’s been a busy two weeks, mainly filled with empty rumors, speculation and hopeful thoughts. Here’s how the baseball landscape, as well as the futures market, is looking following Wednesday’s d-day… Boston Red Sox Now with a six game division lead, the Red Sox acquired veteran second baseman Ian Kinsler from the Los Angeles Angels just hours before the deadline closed. The deal wasn’t important, it was necessary, as all reports indicate Boston’s 12-year veteran at the position, Dustin Pedroia, is unlikely to return from a serious knee injury this season. Kinsler isn’t the hitter he used to be, but he’s still a great defensive infielder. In World Series be

2018 Bridgestone Invitational Odds: Will Tiger Roar Back?

Dustin Johnson is favored to win again this weekend at the Bridgestone Invitational Firestone CC is one of Tiger Woods’ favorite courses, however, and he’s listed at reasonable odds The Bridgestone Invitational, starting this Thursday at Firestone CC in Akron, Ohio, features one of the strongest non-major fields of the year. Tiger Woods has won the tournament eight times, most recently in 2013, and set the tournament record in 2000 by recording a score of 21 under par. Odds to Win Bridgestone Invitational Player Bovada Odds Dustin Johnson +700 Rory McIroy +1200 Justin Rose +1200 Tiger Woods +1200 Jordan Spieth +1800 Rickie Fowler +2000 Justin Thomas +2000 Jason Day +2200 Jon Rahm +2500 Francesco Molinari +2500 No surprise that DJ is the favorite. He’s measurably the best golfer in the world and performed magnificently in the Canadian Open last weekend. Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler are both way too high on this odds sheet, but

Updated World Series Odds: Dodgers Win the Trade Deadline

The Dodgers improved their odds of winning the 2018 World Series by acquiring Manny Machado and Brian Dozier at the trade deadline Is LA now a lock to win its second consecutive pennant?  Will Dozier rediscover his stroke in Los Angeles?  Bryce Harper can breathe a sigh of relief. For now, at least. The Nationals outfielder was not dealt before Major League Baseball’s non-waiver trade deadline on Tuesday despite being one of the hottest commodities on the market. Harper will now presumably finish the season in Washington, where he’ll try to guide the Nats back into the playoffs for the third straight year. Although Washington didn’t pull the trigger on a deal, plenty of other teams did. The Yankees addressed their pitching needs by adding Zach Britton, JA Happ, and Lance Lynn; the Red Sox added more pop with four-time All-Star Ian Kinsler; the Astros loaded up for the stretch drive with Roberto Osuna, Ryan Pressly, and Martin Maldonado; and the Brewers went all in by picking up

Odds on Kevin Hart vs Antonio Esfandiari Boxing Match

Hollywood superstar Kevin Hart and poker pro Antonio Esfandiari have agreed to a boxing match scheduled for March, 2019 Will the fight actually take place? Will Hart’s tenacity be a match for Esfandiari’s considerable reach? As an actor, Kevin Hart has fought international terrorists, trained assassins, and stampeding rhinos. But in March, 2019 he’ll face his biggest challenge yet when he steps into the ring with three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Antonio Esfandiari. The 39-year-old poker pro shared the news with TMZ Sports on Monday in an impromptu interview. “Kevin Hart and I were playing poker the other day, and somehow boxing comes up,” he disclosed. “So, we made a bet. And, in March we are going to box in a ring.” It’s unclear how much money is on the line or if the event will even be televised, but what we do know for certain is that Hart is giving Esfandiari 35/1 odds. That’s a generous total from a man who’s barely bigger than a fire hydrant, but Hart clea

Daily Sports Tips – Wednesday 1st August

Detroit Tigers vs Cincinnati Reds 9.10am AEST Reds To Win @ $2.05 Tigers lefty Matt Boyd reached the 100 strikeout mark last week, but he has some work to do today if he is to earn a win against the Reds. Cincinnati left Boyd battered and bruised when they faced him back in June, mashing five earned runs off six hits. The Reds’ offense is ticking along nicely this week, hitting to the tune of a .250 AVG with 10 home runs and a handy walk rate. Cincy should take this one on the road. Barcelona vs Roma 12.00pm AEST Roma To Win @ $2.15 The International Champions Cup continues between two teams who squared off in the UEFA Champions League earlier in the year. In a surprise turn of events, it was Roma who knocked Barca out of the running last season, and with nothing but bragging rights on the line here today, this promises to be exciting. With many players resting following the World Cup, Barcelona continue to experiment with their lineup. Roma, meanwhile, will be hungry
