Scottish Football: Morelos drops his red

RANGERS bad boy Alfredo Morelos is determined to clean up his act after his latest red card. The Colombian hitman faces another suspension after lashing out at Scott Brown in Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Celtic. After seeing red for the fifth time this season Ibrox gaffer Steven Gerrard said he could no longer defend his star striker. So it looks as if El Buffalo is taking drastic action as he tries to stop falling foul of Scottish whistlers. He's fed up missing matches and leaving his team-mates to fend with 10 men so there will be no more red in AlfREDo. Morelos told Colombian newspaper El Espectado: “Some reds they are not my fault and one against Aberdeen was cancelled. Refs I think they treat me differently because of my name so I've decided to do something about it.” So what does the player plan to do? He added “They see my name Alfredo and starting thinking red so I'm changing my name by deed poll. I like a fight so I'm calling myself Ragingbull Morelos as a

NRL Round Three Betting Summary

PUNTER’S PAL Like they have for more than a decade, Melbourne was again giving something back to the punters. After moderate early money for Penrith, the usual late trend toward the Storm eventuated and Craig Bellamy’s men did the rest. It was a similar story for the Roosters who were also the subject of a successful late plunge. BOOKIE’S BEST It came early but it was big. Brisbane was the best-backed team of the round in singles and through multis, seen as a moral by punters. In what proved a Thursday Night horror show for those looking to build a bank for the weekend, the Dragons torched punter’s plans and proved the bookie’s best friends. TRYING TIMES Punters love to ‘back the story’ and Blake Ferguson taking on his old team and crossing first proved a profitable ‘story’. He was well found at $11 but that was undoubtedly the highlight of his night as his former teammates took the two points. Campbell Graham scoring the opener for South Sydney against the Gold Coast also pro

AFL Round Two Betting Summary

PUNTER’S PAL It has not taken long for punters to become Brisbane believers. After trouncing the reigning premiers in round one, the Lions became the bookmakers worst enemy in round two, backed from 4.5 point outsiders into near favouritism by the bounce. Also taken through more successful multis than any other team, the new look Lions are the round two punter’s pal. BOOKIE’S BEST Surely Essendon couldn’t be as bad as round one? Surely the Bombers couldn’t get beaten by a Saints side which limped in against the Suns? This was the mindset which cost punters more than any other at the weekend. St Kilda’s effort holding out the bewildered Bombers, had the bookies high fiving on the trading floor. GOLDEN GOALS It was a tough night for Sydney and a tough night for those who backed the Swans to bounce back but, for some, the bloods did provide a handy little collect to kick off their Friday evening. Ben Ronke ($16) was the best backed successful 1st goal kicker of round two. On the o

5 Lessons Learned – NRL Round 3

Three rounds into the season and while it’s too early to make any grand, overarching conclusions about any team’s fortunes, it’s fair to say that the unbeaten Storm and Rabbitohs have been the most impressive sides. Round 3 was the one that made you question just about every conclusion you reached in the opening two rounds with upsets, blowouts and plenty of points. We weren’t too surprised the Storm picked up another big win to move to six points on the season but there were a few results that took us by surprise. With all of that in mind we try to decipher the scores, scorers and stories from the weekend that was in the NRL. 1 – Underdogs Share the Spoils After just one underdog picked up a victory last week the unfancied bunch bounced back this weekend going 4-4 against the spread. Things started strongly with the Dragons upset win on Thursday but the best day of the weekend was Sunday as both the Bulldogs and Titans covered the line in their games. It helped that the Titans

Daily Racing Tips – Monday 1st April

Hamilton - Race 1 1:00pm AEDT No. 3 Ours Ours was only narrowly denied by King Of The Forest in a Steeplechase race at Warrnambool last start and this race at Hamilton this afternoon is no tougher. He should now be at close to peak fitness after a couple of tough runs and he has run over 3200 metres over the sticks in the past. Bet Now: Ladbrokes.com.au Hamilton - Race 7 4.30pm AEDT No. 3 Day On The Drink Day On The Drink recorded a maiden race win at Warrnambool a couple of starts ago and he was not disgraced behind Signature Street at the same venue last start. I like the fact that he has been dropped back to 1100 metres for this contest and he will be storming home in the final stages of the race. Bet Now: Hamilton Race 7 Wagga - Race 5 3.50pm AEDT No. 1 Designer Dance Designer Dance has impressed in her two race starts to date. She found the line nicely over 1000 metres at Wagga on debut and she backed-up that effort with a very comfortable win when she steppe

Dutch Eerste Divisie : Goals galore in Holland

Quiet day on the home front as only a handful of English and Scottish Reserve games so going take the opportunity to take advantage of a rare Monday full card in the Dutch 2nd tier. There are 10 games being played and I'm backing goals from a league that produces plenty of them with games easily racking  up 4-5+ goals. Dutch Eerste Divisie  (KO 7pm) The Eerdivisie is a firm favourite with the site on a Friday night and is the highest scoring second tier of any of the main leagues in Europe. All but one of the 20 teams in this league average over 2.5 goals and with half the clubs averaging over 3 goals  a game, its no surprise  its a favourite league goals. Sadly prices reflect this with games priced up incredibly short so rather than identify games to make a worthwhile double or treble I'm going to back a joint league effort and a market that I like, total match goals. Skybet have markets set at 34+ at even money and yes that averages out just over 3 goals per game needed,

Mr Fixit’s Top Tips: Simply red puts me in the black

THREE Super Single winners in a row pushed from the red to finish the month in the black. Ayr draw no bet landed at 27-20 on Friday, Norwich came in at 6-4 on Saturday and on Sunday it was a red card in the Celtic v Rangers match at 6-4. I should have just tipped Alfredo Morelos to be sent off at 5-1 but at the back of my mind is always the thought he's going to calm down. That's five reds for the Colombian this season (one rescinded) and he's too good a player to be sitting in the stand. Steven Gerrard's got his work cut out trying to resolve his disciplinary problems if the player stays for next season. I called the game almost perfectly, tipping a Celtic win and Odsonne Edouard to score first. And Gary Docherty was just a Daniel Candeias card away from landing a 115-1 BetBuilder winner. Well done to everyone who won on the Old Firm game and to all Sunday's winners – and there were plenty of them. One of those was Scott Allot who returned from holiday with a

Odds Say MLB Won’t Return to Montreal by 2023

Shaky ownership, stadium issues, and poor attendance led to the Montreal Expos’ departure for Washington in 2004 Talk of baseball’s return to Montreal rekindled with the Toronto Blue Jays’ annual spring visit Opposition to a taxpayer-funded stadium, stiff competition from US cities remain obstacles to baseball’s return The Toronto Blue Jays’ annual spring visit to Montreal has once again raised hopes that Major League Baseball may soon return to Canada’s second-largest city. A groundswell of support for baseball exists among hardcore fans in the city, and a prospective ownership group is actively pursuing plans to build a ballpark just minutes from downtown Montreal. However, with the bitter memory of the Montreal Expos’ departure for Washington, DC still fresh in the minds of city residents, politicians, business people, and baseball industry insiders, an imminent revival of Major League Baseball in La Belle Province remains a longshot. Scott Allot’s Euro Tips: Go with flow in Florence

FIORENTINA'S form has nosedived with just one win in eight ahead of today's Serie A battle with Torino. Keeping clean sheets has been a problem for the Florence side with 10 of their last 11 league and cup outings seeing both teams score. Fellow mid-table outfit Torino have netted 2+ in four successive games and seen btts land in four of six road trips. Back goals at both ends at 19-20 with Sportingbet . Double it up with St Truiden v Charleroi in the Belgian league. Btts has landed in eight of 10 for the hosts and six on the spin for Charleroi, with same again paying 11-17 at Sportingbet . In the Scottish Premiership's big Old Firm showdown, Celtic can all but secure their eighth straight title by beating Rangers at home. Mr Fixit has previewed the game and I can't argue with his choice of Celtic to win against a Rangers side without victory in four. Add Eintracht Frankfurt to move into the Bundesliga's top four by seeing off struggling Stuttgart at home at
