Daily Sports Tips – Sunday 1st July

Wests Tigers vs. Gold Coast Titans
2:00pm AEST

Wests Tigers 1-12 @ $2.88

If the Tigers are to make something of this season, it all has to happen today against the Titans. It’s a big occasion for Wests, who welcome back Robbie Farah into the side. Wests will also be bolstered by debutant Moses Mbye, who was signed back in June. It’s the sort of game the Tigers should be up for, and you’d have to expect nothing less than a big crowd at Leichardt Oval. The Titans are a dreadful 2-6 on the road this year, so the Tigers in the Margin Market is your best play.

Essendon vs. North Melbourne
3:20pm AEST

North Melbourne 1-39 @ $2.26
The Bombers are rolling, but it’s still a little too early to get excited just yet. If Essendon are to play finals, they’ll need to take care of North Melbourne today, and since the Bombers have won four of their last five, they are certainly every chance. The Roos needed all four quarters to take care of an undermanned Bulldogs side last week, but the real story was big Ben Brown. The Coleman Medalist favourite booted five during North’s win, and since the Bombers have been up and down defensively all year, the Roos’ offensive weapons should see them over the line in a close one.

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs. North Queensland Cowboys
4:10pm AEST

South Sydney 1-12 @ $2.90

The Bunnies are on the hunt for eight straight wins, and in a home game against a lowly North Queensland side, you have to like their chances. The Cowboys have been woeful on the road, winning just two of their seven games. Souths, meanwhile, have cruised to 5-2 in home games, and now rank top of the league in points and tries scored. On the back of a week off, anything goes. North Queensland could keep this close, and since they’ve won four of their last five encounters with the Rabbits, they’ll fancy themselves. Still, South Sydney can smell top of the ladder, and there’s no stopping this juggernaut as it rolls towards finals.
