Daily Sports Tips – Wednesday 1st August

Detroit Tigers vs Cincinnati Reds
9.10am AEST

Reds To Win @ $2.05

Tigers lefty Matt Boyd reached the 100 strikeout mark last week, but he has some work to do today if he is to earn a win against the Reds. Cincinnati left Boyd battered and bruised when they faced him back in June, mashing five earned runs off six hits. The Reds’ offense is ticking along nicely this week, hitting to the tune of a .250 AVG with 10 home runs and a handy walk rate. Cincy should take this one on the road.

Barcelona vs Roma
12.00pm AEST

Roma To Win @ $2.15

The International Champions Cup continues between two teams who squared off in the UEFA Champions League earlier in the year. In a surprise turn of events, it was Roma who knocked Barca out of the running last season, and with nothing but bragging rights on the line here today, this promises to be exciting. With many players resting following the World Cup, Barcelona continue to experiment with their lineup. Roma, meanwhile, will be hungry to recoup from last weeks disappointment against Tottenham, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see manager Eusebio Di Francesco turn to expensive signings like Javier Pastore in this one.

England vs India
8.00pm AEST

England To Win @ $2.00

India’s tour of England sees the hosts come in as the heavy favourite ahead of the first test, and on the back of some big ODI success last month, you have to like the poms’ chances. India is playing with a long list of injuries, which includes bowlers Buhvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah. England, on the other hand, are the in-form side, but more importantly, Joe Root comes in following back-to-back centuries in the last two ODI’s. Having last lost a test series at home way back in 2014, the English are worth a back at these odds.
