Scottish Football Tips: Big targets for Celtic and Rangers

CELTIC and Rangers are both eyeing Europa League runs after Christmas but tomorrow they have different targets to focus on.

Brendan Rodgers's men are aiming to lift the first silverware of the season while Steven Gerrard's wants to guide his side to the top of the table for the first time.

It really is a Super Sunday and I'm backing both halves of the Old Firm with the double paying 8-5 at McBookie.

Rodgers has bagged six trophies in a row and Paddy Power go just 2-7 on Celtic adding a seventh – and the first part of a potential triple treble.

Aberdeen again stand in their way and are 10-3 at bet365 but go into the Betfred Cup Final on the back of a dreadful 3-0 defeat at Motherwell last week.

Celtic are close to their best form and eased past Rosenborg away to keep their Euro hopes alive.

It's difficult to see anything but the favourites winning at Hampden and they are a biggest 4-9 to win in 90 minutes with Aberdeen 9-1 at William Hill.

Celtic have won nine of their last 10 meetings against the Dons with the exception at the end of last season when their eye was off the ball. I can see a 2-0 or 3-0 win and the Hoops are 11-8 at McBookie to win to nil.

Rodgers's side have been sharing out the goals recently so picking a first scorer isn't easy but I'm taking a chance on Tom Rogic who had plenty of efforts in Rosenborg on his comeback.

The Australian is often the man for the big occasion and is 13-2 at Paddy Power to break the deadlock.

James Forrest netted a hat-trick for Scotland at Hampden recently and is 43-20 with 888sport to net on one of his favourite grounds.

Meanwhile, Rangers will move one point clear of Celtic at the top of the Premiership if they win at Tynecastle.

The Ibrox side are a biggest 5-6 at Ladbrokes and should beat a side who have slipped to third after four defeats in a row and they haven't netted in five.

Craig Levein is missing big players at both ends, especially Steven Naismith, and Rangers should edge this. A win to nil pays 23-10 at Ladbrokes.

Today I'm tempted by St Mirren at home to Hamilton at 13-10 with McBookie after last week's success against Hearts.

That and the other two games look tight ones. Motherwell will go to Livingston full of confidence after destroying Aberdeen but will get a tough contest at the Tony Macaroni.

Killie v Hibs is an interesting one with both sides off the boil and a draw at 12-5 with bet365 could be the best bet.

In the Championship Inverness look nailed on at 1-2 with McBookie at home to a Falkirk side who crashed out of the Cup at Stenny last week.

Partick Thistle have been training with the paras and might need to make a fast escape from Palmerston. Back Queen of the South at 6-5 with McBookie.

Arbroath were surprise losers against Stranraer in the Cup and welcome giantkillers Stenny to Gayfield. Should be a home win but risk Arbroath and both to score at 15-8 with bet365.

In League Two try Peterhead to win to nil at home to Annan. The last three meetings at Balmoor have gone that way and pays 15-8 at McBookie.

Six out of eight meetings between Stirling and Elgin have gone over 3.5 goals so back that again at 11-5 with Unibet.
