Mr Fixit’s Top Tips: Happy New Year and Happy Punting

THE bells have sounded to herald the start of a new year and hopefully there will be plenty of big cheers on the site today.

Scotland have taken the sensible decision to have no football but in England it's full steam ahead with a busy card in the EFL and Premier League fixtures spread over three days and culminating with Man City v Liverpool on Thursday.

It's exciting times in the Premier League title race and Spurs can't afford to drop more ground at Cardiff if they are to sustain a challenge.

On Monday I put a double as a Super Single and it's Spurs and Arsenal at home to Fulham.

Fulham are slowly improving under Claudio Ranieri who has focused on plugging the gaps in a leaky defence.

The Italian has two wins under his belt – both at home – but he's yet to find a cure for travel sickness. Fulham have the worst away record in the Premier League – two points from 30 with just six goals scored.

Only surprise is the Gunners, who aren't firing on all cylinders, are as big as 4-11 at McBookie. I'd have expected something like 1-4 or 1-5.

Arsenal have lost just once at home and should be close to full strength and if players are to be rested it will be in the FA Cup at the weekend. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains their most potent weapon and is 14-5 at Betway to break the deadlock.

Spurs slipped up badly on Saturday just when they had moved to be Liverpool's closest challengers. Mauricio Pochettini's men looked leggy as they crashed to three Wolves goals in the final 20 minutes at Wembley.

Neil Warnock's Cardiff are up to 16th but have flopped badly against the big guns losing 5-0 at home to Man City, 5-1 at home to Man United and 4-1 at Liverpool.

Spurs have the best away record in the league – nine wins and two losses – and are 1-2 at McBookie to pick up the points. If he starts consider Son Heung-Min to score first at 14-5 with Betway.

There's a full card in the lower leagues and I've picked out a fairly speculative moneyback fivefold for low stakes. Start with Derby at home to Middlesbrough and they should be on a high after a stunning win at Norwich on Saturday. Equally Hull should be in fine fettle for the visit of Bolton just days after shocking leaders Leeds 2-0 at Elland Road.

Next I'm on Bradford who are heading in the right direction under David Hopkin. They've lost just two in 11 and that was at Sunderland and Luton so should be confident of beating an inconsistent Accrington.

Staying in League One add Peterborough – 4-0 winners at Accrington on Saturday – at home to Scunthorpe.

Finally take HullShaker's Bury who are still in the promotion mix and boast the second best home record in the division. Crewe on the other hand have the worst away figures in League Two. This is 1pt line – no bigger.

I'll add tips later in the morning – when and how many depends on my state of soberness.

Thanks for all the good wishes and I hope everyone has a good and profitable 2019.
