Democrats Pulling Away in Early 2020 Presidential Election Odds

  • Are Donald Trump’s days in the White House numbered?
  • Bovada’s 2020 Presidential odds have swung in favor of the Democrats
  • The Democratic Party regained control of the House in the 2018 mid-terms

A blue wave of Democrats took back the House of Representatives during the November mid-term elections and now they have their sights set on regaining another house – the White House.

Bovada is laying odds that they will do it. The sportsbook now has the Democrats at -150 odds to win the 2020 US Presidential election, while the odds of Donald Trump and the Republicans staying in power grow longer with each passing day.

Odds on Which Party Will Win the 2020 Presidential Election

Which Party Will Win the 2020 Presidential Election? Odds at Bovada (01/31/19)
Democratic Party -150
Republican Party +120

The last sitting Republican President who didn’t get re-elected to a second term was George HW Bush in 1992.

It’s Getting Crowded

Those with a mind to take on and ultimately take out Trump are much like the odds on the Democrats winning the Presidency in 2020.  The numbers are growing in leaps and bounds. Some of the top candidates are female, including Senators Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris.

The latest entrant, South Bend, Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg, brings to nine the total of official Democratic candidates for 2020, but there’s plenty more who may still end up throwing their hats into the ring.

Bernie Sanders, a 2016 contender, appears to be on the cusp of making his announcement, and Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar is another strong candidate who figures to enter the race.

Senator Cory Booker, failed Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke, ex-Vice President Joe Biden, former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, and even John Kerry, who lost the 2004 Presidential race to George W Bush, all say they are giving consideration to the thought of running.

Others who were expected to run, including Stormy Daniels lawyer Michael Avenatti and media baron Oprah Winfrey, have indicated they won’t, and John Podesta, campaign manager on Hillary Clinton’s failed 2016 Presidential bid against Trump, insists she’s definitely out.

Democrats are Grabbing Trump By the Popularity

What happens when your greatest strength turns into your most glaring weakness? Deep down, even as some of them still ardently support Trump’s antics, that question must stir a cauldron of concern among Republicans.

As Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the 2016 election inches closer and closer to Trump’s family and to the guy seated in the Oval Office, support for Trump weakens.

As Trump is cornered, his tweet storms, which once seemed so entertaining his supporters, now leave him resembling a cantankerous old man yelling at the kids to get off his lawn.

Trump’s tweet storms leave him resembling a cantankerous old man yelling at the kids to get off his lawn.

Something to keep in mind as the Democrats prepare to derail the Trump train. We mentioned that the last Republican incumbent not to gain a second term was George HW Bush. But after eight years of Democrat Bill Clinton in the White House, America elected George W Bush President in 2000.

Try not to let thoughts of Donald Trump Jr in 2028 give you sleepless nights.
