Odds Favor a Manchester United Transfer for Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale During Summer Transfer Window

  • Wales star Gareth Bale has fallen out of favor at Real Madrid
  • He started just four matches after March and isn’t well-liked by manager Zinedine Zidane
  • Manchester United is rumored as a summer transfer destination for Bale

A year ago, life at Real Madrid was really exciting for Gareth Bale. He came off the bench to score twice in the Champions League final and propel the Spanish super club to a 3-1 victory over Liverpool.

This season has proven to be anything but delightful, and the speculation is that Real Madrid would like to bail on the remaining three year’s of Bale’s contract.

Bale, Zidane Clash

This week, as Wales prepares for upcoming European Championhip qualifiers against Croatia and Hungary, Bale is back in his element. He’s a hero in Wales, beloved by his countrymen after leading them to the semifinals of Euro 2016.

At Real Madrid, he is an outcast. Pushed out of the starting 11 this season by new manager Zinedine Zidane, Bale often presents a sullen figure there.

As Real Madrid lost 2-0 to Real Betis in their farewell regular-season match, ending up third in La Liga, Zidane left his star striker to languish on the bench while the side desperately needed goals.

Where’s He Headed?

While there is a contingency that believes Bale might be content to wait it out at Real Madrid, the fact of the matter is that with 102 goals in 231 games, he’s too much of a talent to be wasted sitting on the bench.

Manchester United certainly needs a boost after the disappointment of the past season, although Wales manager and former Man United star Ryan Giggs insists he’s not been asked about Bale by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Might a return to his old team Tottenham be in the cards? A pairing of Bale and England captain Harry Kane doesn’t seem likely.

We’d put our money on Man United but a longshot to consider is Liverpool. Pipped at the post for the title by Manchester City, they could be looking for that one element to put them over the top.
