The final Grand Prix of the 2019 season gets underway on Sunday as the chequered flag drops at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
Lewis Hamilton has already been crowned world champion but there are still a number of intriguing storylines left to play out including the battle for third in the drivers’ standings and the final race for Nico Hulkenberg at Renault.
The silver and green colours of Mercedes have dominated this year, so you’re if looking to cap off the F1 season with a win, be sure to read our entire 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Preview below.
Best Bet: Lewis Hamilton to Win
Mercedes has claimed the last five Abu Dhabi Grand Prix’s, three of which were won by Lewis Hamilton. Last year Sebastian Vettel claim close to an upset finishing second behind this year’s world champion, but nobody has come close to touching Mercedes in the desert.
Hamilton is the odds on favourite to finish the year off with a win and while it’s tempting to back his teammate Valtteri Bottas at double-digit odds, it’s probably wishful thinking with the Finn starting at the back of the grid due to an engine penalty.
Hamilton failed to finish on the podium for only the third time this season last fortnight in Brazil. Each time that has happened this year he’s gone on to win the following race, so with some value on offer, back the favourite.
Tip: Back Lewis Hamilton to Win @ $2.38
Best Value: Sebastian Vettel Podium Finish
Mercedes might hold the edge over Ferrari in terms of wins, but Scuderia has still enjoyed plenty of success in Abu Dhabi with three podium finishes in their last four trips.
Sebastian Vettel failed to finish in both the United States and Brazil, but prior to that he placed second in back-to-back starts in Japan and Mexico.
To further strengthen his case, Vettel has also won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2009, 2010 and 2013. This is a track he knows well, so the $1.80 to finish on the podium looks strong value.
Tip: Sebastian Vettel Podium Finish @ $1.80
Safety Car?
The Yas Marina circuit is made up mostly of long sweeping straights, leaving plenty of room to maneuver and overtake.
Typically speaking, the Safety Car market is never worth backing. On most tracks, an accident is bound to happen but considering Yas Marina is wide open and full of space, it’s worth backing this race to be relatively clean.
Tip: No Safety Car @ $1.91
