Verstappen Holds Edge in Race for Third Place

Verstappen earned his third win of the campaign two weeks ago at the Brazilian Grand Prix, and now takes an 11-point lead over Charles Leclerc in the battle for third place into Sunday morning’s running of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit.

With a third-place finish in Sunday’s race guaranteeing a third-place finish on the F1 Drivers Standings, Verstappen is pegged as a short -250 bet to finish atop the podium for a 10th time in 2019.

The 22-year-old romped to an easy victory at Brazil after claiming the pole position for the second time this season. Verstappen has also enjoyed past success at Abu Dhabi, claiming third place a year ago, and finishing in the top five in each of the past three years despite starting from the third row in each of those races.

And with a third-place finish in Sunday’s race guaranteeing a third-place finish on the F1 Drivers Standings, Verstappen is pegged as a short -250 bet to finish atop the podium for a 10th time in 2019.

Rivalry Between Leclerc, Vettel Heating Up

After losing significant ground in the Drivers Standings by failing to finish at Brazil, Leclerc travels to Abu Dhabi pegged as a +250 second favorite to take the checkered flag. Leclerc was forced out of the Brazilian Grand Prix after colliding with teammate Sebastian Vettel during the final laps of the race, bouncing him to fourth place on the F1 Drivers Standings.

According to reports, the collision amped up tensions between the Ferrari teammates, with Leclerc publicly calling out Vettel for a high-risk maneuver that ended the day for both drivers. With Ferrari already assured of a second-place finish in the F1 Constructors Standings, the pair have since agreed to be “less aggressive” towards each other.

However, Vettel trails Leclerc by just 19 points despite failing to finish three of his past five races. The four-time Formula One champion has also enjoyed past success at Abu Dhabi, where he has won three times and reached the podium on seven occasions.

And with fourth place in the Drivers Standings still mathematically in reach, Vettel enters the weekend pegged as an intriguing +500 wager at Bovada to win Sunday’s race, and a solid +110 value bet to finish ahead of Leclerc in F1 head-to-head wagering at BetOnline.

Hamilton Chasing F1 Record at Abu Dhabi

After clinching his sixth career Formula One title with a seventh-place finish at Brazil, Lewis Hamilton closes out the campaign as a strong +160 favorite in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix odds. Hamilton has tallied 10 wins on the season, but has produced mixed results down the stretch, taking home the checkered flag in just two of his past six outings.

With 387 points, 73 points up on Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas for second place in the standings, Hamilton faces no real pressure in Sunday’s race. However, the 34-year-old Englishman sits just 21 points shy of the Formula One record for most points amassed in a season, which he set last year and can eclipse with a victory on Sunday.

Bottas Facing Tough Finish to 2019 Campaign

After a difficult two weeks, Bottas aims to finish the season on a high note, and sports +450 odds in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix betting. The 30-year-old Finn recorded the fastest lap at Brazil, but was forced out of the race with a hydraulics problem just seven laps later.

Bottas will also start from the back of the grid at Abu Dhabi after electing to go with a new power unit in Sunday’s race, reducing the value in his odds to claim a career-best fifth victory this season. In addition, Bottas is coping with challenges of a personal nature after announcing that his marriage to wife Emilia Pikkarainen has come to an end.

But faced with the challenge of making up for his poor starting grid position, Bottas sits as an attractive +600 wager to once again record the fastest lap in Sunday’s race.

Picks: Max Verstappen to finish Top 3 (-250); Valtteri Bottas to record fastest lap (+600)
