KBO Picks & Odds (May 31): The Wyverns Have Found Their Stride

Another week of KBO action wraps up Sunday with all five games starting at 1am ET. Saturday’s action was dominated by the home teams for the second day in a row, with all five tasting victory.

Among those was SK Wyverns, who picked up their third straight win and will be looking to complete the three-game sweep of the Hanwha Eagles on Sunday.

Keep Picking on the Eagles

The Eagles have now lost seven straight, with each loss coming by multiple runs. The offense has completely disappeared and on Saturday they failed to exceed four runs for the fifth time during their slide.

As bad as the offense has been, the pitching has been worse. They’ve given up 17 runs in two games to the Wyverns, and have been outscored 51-18 over their losing streak. Desperate for a spark, they’ll hand the ball to Chad Bell, who will make his second start since recovering from an elbow injury. The 31-year-old lasted just 3.1 innings in his season debut thanks to a team imposed pitch count, and will likely be limited again.

SK meanwhile, will trot out their top arm Jong Hoon Park, who’s fresh off a dominant outing at Doosan. Park hasn’t allowed more than three runs in any start in 2020 and has an impressive 25-6 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Pick: SK Wyverns moneyline (-125)

KT Looking to Bounce Back

KT Wiz Suwon has been outscored 19-4 through two games at Kiwoom so needless to say they’re desperate for a quality start from Je Song Bae. Fortunately, the 23-year-old has been lights out this season. Bae has allowed just three runs in four starts and has surrendered just one run in his last three outings combined.

Kiwoom will counter with Seung Ho Lee, who has the worst ERA (5.23) and WHIP (1.40) on the slate. He was touched up for four runs by the NC Dinos in his last start, and hasn’t made it out of the sixth inning in any of his four outings this season. He’s struck out more than three batters just once in his last nine starts dating back to last season, and has failed to record a victory in five straight contests.

Pick: KT Wiz Suwon moneyline (-105)

Straily Flashes Elite Stuff

We were on Dan Staily in his last outing and he did not disappoint. The former MLB’er tossed 6.1 innings of shutout ball and racked up seven more strikeouts to add to his league-leading total. Sunday’s matchup against the Bears is daunting, but one that he can certainly overcome.

Staily has surrendered two or fewer runs in four of five starts and the Doosan offense has cooled down lately. After a scorching hot first 16 games of the season, the Bears have averaged just 3.3 runs over their last six.
