NRL Round 3 Betting Summary

PUNTER’S PAL

As is the case at the beginning of each season, the return from another lengthy break represented a difficult prospect for punters, but they hit the ground running on Thursday night.

Parramatta received plenty of support in the 24 hours leading up to kick off and started $1.77 favourites, attracting some big bets across the board, and ultimately winning with complete ease.

The round was in fact bookended by big performances from the punters, with Sunday’s game between Manly and Canterbury also well and truly skewed in their favour.

BOOKIE’S BEST

Saturday night proved to be a good time for the bookies.

First, it was the Tigers upsetting the Sharks. Young hooker Harry Grant scoring the first try at odds laid a base for several other positive results in the ring, including a $18K live bet on the Sharks at $1.36.

That was followed by the Raiders’ big win over the Storm. We saw plenty of action for the Storm in Match Betting and at the line and they started the $1.53 favourites. We took a bet of $32K at that price and ultimately, both games well and truly finished in our favour.

FIRST TRY FILL UP

Tom Trbojevic.

As is so often the case when Turbo is stepping out, he was absolutely truck-loaded all week and took just three minutes to break the Canterbury defence for the game’s first four-pointer.

There was daylight between Turbo and any other player in First Try Scorer betting and it was a horror result for the bookies.

LEGENDARY LAND

Two to note at opposite ends of the scale.

Firstly, one punter had $2K on Ben Hampton and Daniel Tupou to score the first try in their respective games at odds of $90.

The second well and truly added to the carnage of Sunday’s Manly vs Canterbury game. $55K on Manly (-8.5), Manly 9+ (1st Half), Manly to win Both Halves at odds of $4.29.

BACKING THE FUTURE

No big changes to note, but the Raiders have moved into joint $5 favouritism with the Roosters following their win.

The Broncos ($ 11 out to $15) and Rabbitohs ($13 out to $17) have both drifted following their hefty defeats.

PREMIERSHIP MOVES

Raiders – $6 > $5
Sea Eagles – $11 > $9
Broncos – $11 < $15
Rabbitohs – $13 < $17
