the Memorial Tournament 2021 Odds and Picks

  • The Memorial Tournament from Muirfield Village in Dublin, OH tees off Thursday, June 3rd
  • Defending champion Jon Rahm is the +1000 favorite over Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy
  • We’ve narrowed down the golfers with the best chance of emerging victorious and provided the best value bets below

After Jason Kokrak won the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial, the PGA Tour heads to Dublin, Ohio for the Memorial Tournament. This is one of the prestigious non-major tournaments on the calendar, with Jack Nicklaus hosting from famed Muirfield Village Golf Club.

Last season, back-to-back tournaments were contested on this track, with Collin Morikawa defeating Justin Thomas in a playoff at the Workday Charity Open. The following week, Jon Rahm clipped Ryan Palmer by three strokes at the Memorial, which was set up much tougher. Last year was the first time in the last eight iterations of this championship that the winning score was not double digits under par.

Seven of the top-ten players in the world are teeing it up, as this serves as the second to-last tune-up for the US Open. The course was renovated after last year’s championship, and it can play up to 100 yards further in an attempt for a sterner test.

Viktor Hovland Primed for Big Victory

23-year-old Norwegian superstar in the making Viktor Hovland already has won two PGA Tour events. He continues to trend upwards and appears on the cusp of winning the biggest title of his young career.

This season, he has a victory in Mexico, a pair of runner-ups and two third place finishes in his last three starts.

In the last 24 rounds, Hovland has been dialed in on several key strokes gained categories.

Hovland’s Strokes Gained Stats In Last 24 Rounds

Total Ball Striking Off-the-Tee Tee-to-Green Approach Putting Short Game

Hovland leads the Tour in scoring average, is second in birdie average, fourth in SG: off-the-tee and fifth in total strokes gained.

During last year’s Workday Open, he was strong, finishing third. He appears ready to win his biggest championship to date, and at +1800, you’re getting him at better value than the top-five players on the board.

2021 the Memorial Tournament Best Value Picks

  1. Matthew Fitzpatrick (+4000): Six-time European Tour winner Matt Fitzpatrick appears close to earning his breakthrough win in the United States. In his last nine starts, he’s posted seven top-25’s, including four top-10’s. 15th in total strokes gained and tee-to-green, and 16th in SG: putting. Closed with the best final round last year at the Memorial for a solo third place result.
  2. Charley Hoffman (+5000): Charley Hoffman has been as consistent as they come, making eleven straight cuts, resulting in nine top-20’s, including six in a row. His best finishes were a runner-up at the Valero and T-3 last weekend at the Charles Schwab. Fifth in strokes gained approaching the green on the campaign. In last 24 rounds, he’s second in total strokes gained and had a T-7 last year at this track at the Workday Open.
  3. Matt Wallace (+8000): Like Matt Fitzpatrick, fellow Englishmen Matt Wallace is looking for that maiden PGA Tour victory and he’s had some brushes since April, finishing third at the Valero and T-6 at the Wells Fargo. Nothing earth shattering in his stats but every facet is really solid. The four-time Euro Tour winner was T-4 at the Memorial in 2020.
