2021 Kingston Town Classic Day Preview

The Perth carnival continues this Saturday at Ascot race course with nine races on the program.

Our full 2021 Kingston Town Classic Day Preview can be found below.

Race 1 - 12:05pm

W.A Trophy (1000m)

There are a lot of debutants in the opening race of the afternoon on Kingston Town Classic Day and I am therefor happy to watch on.

No Bet

Race 2 - 12:45pm

One Metro Win Handicap (1200m)

Wednesday returned from a spell with an impressive win over the short course at Belmont three weeks ago.

The five year old mare has just the 12 starts to her name and looks a progressive type of horse who can make sharp improvements with more race experience.

Barrier five is a positive.

1 Unit Wednesday

Race 3 - 1:25pm

Amelia Park Handicap (1100m)

Written Matter has managed three wins from his four career race starts so far including an impressive first up win at Ascot.

He will take plenty of benefit out of that fresh run and although he steps back in distance, he is a classy individual who can take another step forward in this contest.

1 Unit Written Matter

Race 4 - 2:05pm

Tour Edge Handicap (2200m)

Reliable Star has returned some solid efforts so far this prep and is ready to peak now.

Back to back runner up finishes at this track has her in goof form and the daughter of Reliable Man will have no issue with the distance.

2 Units Reliable Star

Race 5 - 2:45pm

Group 3 A.J Scahill Stakes (1400m)

Massimo was excellent when winning the Group 2 Lee Steere Stakes at this track and distance two back and although he was no match for them in the Railway Stakes, he will appreciate the step back in class.

Red Can Man is going far better than his form suggests on paper.

He finished a length behind Elite Street at Group 3 level two back and he was never in the race in the Winterbottom last week.

1 Unit Massimo

1/2 Unit E/W Red Can Man

Race 6 - 3:25pm

Listed Lee-Steere Classic (1400m)

Stay Safe broke through for his maiden win at Northam three back and has subsequently finished second at his next couple.

He ran into a good one in Treasured Star in the Group 2 W.A Guineas last start and the step back to 1400m will suit in this event.

1 Unit Stay Safe

Race 7 - 4:05pm

Listed Jungle Dawn Classic (1400m)

Bright Diamond was unplaced for the first time in 10 career starts in the Listed Jungle Mist Classic last start.

The lightly raced five year old daughter of I Am Invincible was cramped for room on a couple of occasions during that race but she should get a nice run in transit from barrier three with William Pike steering.

2 Units Bright Diamond

Race 8 - 4:45pm

Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m)

The win of Western Empire in the Group 1 Railway Stakes is impossible to ignore and he is the horse to beat in the feature race of the afternoon at Ascot.

The exciting four year old gelding has won seven of his 12 races overall including his last six in a row.

5 Units Western Empire

Race 9 - 5:20pm

Crown Perth Handicap (1600m)

Willy Pike will steer a last start winner in the last at Ascot on Kingston Town Stakes Day.

Expressionist was a winner over 1800m at Ascot and although he will be asked to carry 2.5kg more in this contest, he is a winning chance.

1 Unit Expressionist
