Daily Racing Tips – Sunday 29th May

Ballarat - Race 4 2:05pm AEDT

No. 1 Dawn County

Dawn Country should finally shed the maiden tag here.

Clayton Douglas’ five-year-old never really made an impact first-up at Warrnambool, but I don’t think the track or the tempo really suited him that day.

Fortunately, that race has produced a handful of winners since, and from a much kinder draw and with the blinkers on, I think this boy will be the next.

Ballarat - Race 5 2:40pm AEDT

No. 4 Ranch Hand

Quite keen on Brookline here in her second run back.

The Hinchinbrook filly was held up at a crucial stage first-up at Donald where she finished down the track.

She won her maiden quite well here second-up at Ballarat last time in though, and this does look a slightly easier race lacking any real depth.

Ballarat - Race 6 3:20pm AEDT

No. 4 Gundown

Happy to have something small on Gundown here at double figures.

The High Chaparral gelding never really got going first-up at Cranbourne over the mile, but he was always going to be better suited out over further.

He’s won and placed on two other occasions over 2000m, while he also ran half a length second to Lion’s Share at Sandown last year, a horse that went on to run well in the Sandown Cup during the spring.

Ballarat - Race 7 4:00pm AEDT

No. 11 Launch Pad

Launch Pad looks to be a horse going places.

Tom Dabernig’s gelding won by an impressive four-length margin first-up at the ‘Bool, a run he can only improve on getting back on firmer footing and out to 1500m.

Harry Coffey takes the reins from a slightly awkward draw, but with not a lot of speed on paper, the pair should have a nice easy time of it up front.
