  • Five of the top-10 seeds remain in contention among the 32 players still in the tournament
  • All of the Wimbledon women’s singles odds, picks, predictions, and best bets are followed in the story below

Wimbledon women’s singles? More like Win-bledon where Poland’s Iga Swiatek is concerned. The top seed, pre-tournament favorite in the Wimbledon odds, and world #1 player in the WTA rankings is through to the third round of the third Grand Slam of women’s tennis.

That extends Swiatek’s current winning streak to 37 matches. It’s the longest in the 21st century.

Swiatek will tangle with France’s Alize Cornet in third-round play. There are also three intriguing matchups in the Round of 32 pitting seeded players against each other. Spain’s Paula Badosa (#4) is facing #25 Petra Kvitova. Angelique Kerber (#15) squares off with #24 Elise Metens. And #11 Coco Gauff meets Amanda Anisimova (#20) in an all-American showdown.

Action begins in the women’s singles third-round competition at the All England Lawn Tennis Club at 6 am ET on Friday. July 1. ESPN is carrying the action, with Canadian viewers able to watch on TSN 1 and 5.

Badosa vs Kvitova Pick

Kvitova is the #25 seed at this year’s event. It’s the lowest seeding in the event for a former champion.

Kvitova was Wimbledon women’s singles champ in 2011 and again in 2014. In the opening Wimbledon odds, she was the co-third betting choice to win the tournament at +1200. Currently, bettors can access a +1350 betting line on Kvitova winning it all.

This is just the second time since 2015 that Kvitova has advanced this far at Wimbledon. She’s facing a tough test in #4 seed Badosa. Both players advanced through second-round play via straight-set victories. Kvitova beat Ana Bogdan 6-1, 7-6(5). Badosa stopped Irina Bara 6-3, 6-2.

In their only previous meeting, Kvitova downed Badosa 7-5, 7-5 in the Round of 64 at the 2020 Australian Open.

Pick: Petra Kvitova (-150), Kvitova 2-1 (+330)

Kerber vs Mertens Pick

Germany’s Kerber is the only former champ left playing in the bottom half of the draw. She won Wimbledon in 2018, was a finalist in 2016, and a semifinalist last year.

Mertens is through to the third round for her 18th successive Grand Slam event. But she’s only made it to the fourth round at Wimbledon once, in 2019.

Pick: Angelique Kerber (-310), Kerber 2-1 (+305)

Wimbledon Upset Special: Tomljanovic Over Krejcikova

Both Australia’s Alja Tomljanovic and Czechia’s Barbora Krejcikova met their fate at Wimbledon last year at the hands of eventual champion Ashleigh Barty. She beat Tomljanovic in the quarterfinals and Krejcikova in the fourth round.

Barty isn’t around to stop their progress this year. Krejcikova has endured a rash of injuries in 2022. Getting to the third round at Wimbledon marked the first occasion since the Australian Open that she’s won successive matches.

It’s the first time world #14 Krejcikova and #44 Tomljanovic will meet on court. Tomljanovic has reached the quarterfinals in three of her past seven tournaments.

Pick: Alja Tomljanovic (+110), Tomljanovic 2-1 (+380)

Wimbledon Women’s Singles Parlay

Parlays are a great way to turn a small stake into a big return in tennis betting. Third-seeded Ons Jabeur is cruising through opponents at Wimbledon. She’s only lost eight games through two matches. In fact, the world #2 from Tunisia, the highest-ranking African player in WTA history, has dropped just one set through her past seven matches.

In set betting, take Jabeur to be up 3-1 in the first set at odds of +135. Add in the Tomljanovic upset of Krejcikova at +110 and both players to win a set in the Katie Boulter-Harmony Tan match at +150.

A $10 wager on this three-leg parlay will pay out $138.33.
