Daily Racing Tips – Monday 31st October

Ballarat - Race 5 2:30pm AEDT

No. 3 Rising

Rising was the well-beaten as the short-priced favourite on the synthetic at Pakenham last start, but I think he had genuine excuses operating from a tricky gate.

He faces the same issue again here, but after winning by seven lengths the start prior over this track and trip, he’s worth forgiving.

The son of I Am Invincible gets in well with the claim and I think he’ll push forward under Matthew Chadwick. There doesn’t appear to be a lot of early speed on paper, so he might be able to run this race on his own terms.

Ballarat - Race 6 3:00pm AEDT

No. 5 Great Ambition

Great Ambition was given a lovely ride by Fred Kersley over this track and distance last start and looks ready to go on with it now.

The Toronado mare stalked the pace and burst clear late to win by half a length, a run she can improve on with a couple of starts under her belt now.

She seemed to have plenty left to give through the line, and although she’ll carry an extra couple kg’s for her troubles, she warrants plenty of respect over this distance with two wins and a place to her name.

Ballarat - Race 7 3:30pm AEDT

No. 6 Saint Ay

Saint Ay doesn’t win out of turn but recent form indicates another one might be around the corner.

He stuck on well for third over a touch shorter at St Arnaud last week and I think the decision to return nine days later suggests plenty of intent from the stable.

This race looks slightly easier on paper, and he should get the gun run along the rail with Tahlia Hope retaining the ride.

Ballarat - Race 8 4:00pm AEDT

No. 3 Cheloon

Cheloon looks set to peak in her third run back and we’re getting a decent price for her at time of publish.

She was too good first-up at Murray Bridge winning over 1200m by half a length, and far from disgraced up in grade when weakening late for fourth at Mornington last month.

She’s typically done some of her best work with a gap between runs, while I think the step back to 1100m only strengthens her chances.
