The Valley – Friday, 2nd December Preview

Racing returns to the best track in the country, The Valley this Friday night with a quality card of eight races.

We’ve assessed every race and offer our thoughts and betting recommendations in our The Valley – Friday, 2nd December Day Preview below.

Race 1 - 6:15pm AEDT

Moonee Valley Plate (1200m)

The Hayes team knows to produce a young horse and they have a handy one in the first race of the evening at The Valley.

They have been patient with three-year-old gelding Rackermann but I thought he showed enough in a recent barrier trial to suggest he can be competitive on debut.

1 Unit Rackermann

Race 2 - 6:45pm AEDT

Benchmark 64 Handicap (1200m)

Tropiconni scored by over two lengths over 1000m at Cranbourne earlier this prep and was beaten just 1.35 lengths here at The Valley last time out.

She’s a talented young filly who will settle right on the speed and although she is untested on a good track, she represents good each way value in this event.

1 Unit E/W Tropiconni

Race 3 - 7:15pm AEDT

Benchmark 64 Handicap (2040m)

Ashy Boy is on the quick backup having raced last Sunday at Warrnambool where he was beaten under two lengths.

Both of his career wins have been on a good surface and he is just a much better horse on top of the ground.

He’ll get conditions to suit in this race and he represents good value at his current price.

1 Unit E/W Ashy Boy

Race 4 - 7:45pm AEDT

Benchmark 70 Handicap (2500m)

Pearl Rain is a progressive type who has now won four times from 12 career starts.

She started this prep with back to back wins at Wagga and then The Valley and she was then only narrowly denied at Sandown last time out.

The extra distance is a slight query but the apprentice will give weight relief and she will make her own luck right on the speed from barrier three.

1 Unit E/W Pearl Rain

Race 5 - 8:15pm AEDT

Benchmark 64 Handicap (955m)

Hard to fault the form of Jungle Sensation who has now finished in the top two in her last seven straight.

The last three of those starts have been here at The Valley over the short course and this is the easiest race she’s targeted in a little while.

The apprentice will give some weight relief and she should be able to cross and settle on the speed somewhere.

1 Unit Jungle Sensation

Race 6 - 8:45pm AEDT

Benchmark 70 Handicap (1600m)

Despite having just the three wins to her name, Bubbly Lass has been a consistent performer over her career, placing in 9 of 16 overall starts.

She put together back to back wins earlier this prep before she finished 3.7 lengths behind the winner at Flemington last start.

This is an easier task and she is the horse to beat.

1 Unit Bubbly Lass

Race 7 - 9:15pm AEDT

Benchmark 64 Handicap (1500m)

St Lawrence is a horse with a huge amount of upside.

The lightly raced four year old gelding has won both his career starts including his first up start at Geelong where he scored by a length.

He showed just how tough he was with that win and the step up in distance is only going to suit.

Should be able to cross from barrier 11 and make his own luck on the speed.

2 Units St Lawrence

Race 8 - 9:45pm AEDT

Benchmark 64 Handicap (1200m)

The first up run from Grinzinger Prince at Geelong was full of merit and he was doing his work right at the end of the race out wide.

The step up to 1200m here at The Valley suits him well and he can help us finish the day on a winning note.

2 Units Grizinger Prince
