Thompson vs Holland Odds & Prediction

Stephen Thompson has managed to maintain his grasp on the No. 6 spot in the UFC welterweight rankings despite falling to defeat in each of his past two fights, capped by a unanimous decision loss to Belal Muhammad last December at UFC Vegas 45. Overall, “Wonderboy” has earned just three wins in nine outings, and has failed to finish an opponent in 10 contests since his recording a first-round TKO win over Johny Hendricks six years ago.

Kevin Holland is also coming off a tough loss, falling by submission to Khamzat Chimaev just 2:13 into their 160-lb catchweight clash at UFC 279. Overall, Holland has picked up just two wins in his past five octagon appearances. However, he has enjoyed steady success when fighting as a welterweight, going 6-1 in seven career contests, including victories earlier this year over Tim means and Alex Oliveira.

Wonderboy has been a UFC fixture since joining the promotion back in 2012. A three-time world champion in kickboxing, Thompson enjoyed steady success in early octagon appearances, winning eight of his first nine UFC contests, including five finishes, to earn him a shot at the UFC welterweight title. After battling champion Tyron Woodley to a draw, Thompson suffered a majority decision defeat in their rematch at UFC 209, and hasn’t been the same since.

While Thompson has regularly gone the distance since joining the UFC, he was badly outclassed in his recent unanimous decision losses to Belal Muhammad and Gilbert Burns. Thompson was outstruck by Muhammad by a wide 58-19 margin, and has been brought to the mat combined 10 times during his 0-2 slide.

Vicente Luque (win – unanimous decision) Fight 4 Kyle Daukaus (no contest)
Anthony Pettis (loss – KO) Fight 5 Marvin Vettori (loss – unanimous decision)

Now set to enter the octagon for the fourth time this year, Kevin Holland is clearly a top-rankled contender to be named hardest working fighter in the UFC. “Trailblazer” has largely thrived on a busy schedule of fights, going 10-4 in his past 14 fights folught on less than three months rest.

Holland has also been helped by his recent move down to welterweight after spending five years fighting as a middleweight. That move came after he saw a five-fight win streak while fighting at 185 pounds ended by a three-fight slide that feature unanimous decision losses to Derek Brunson and Marvin Vettori.

Pick: Holland (-160); OVER 4.5 rounds (+130)

Barberena vs dos Anjos Odds, Prediction & Best Bet

Bryan Barberena aims to build on a three-fight win streak that has featured a pair of Fight of the Night bonuses when he battles veteran welterweight Rafael dos Anjos in the co-main event at UFC Orlando.

A power puncher, the 32-year-old southpaw averages 6.11 significant strikes per minute, but has also proven susceptible to level changes, with opponents taking him to the mat 22 times over his past five fights.

Barbarena vs dos Anjos Recent Fights

Barbarena
VS

Robbie Lawler (win – TKO) Fight 1 Rafael Fiziev (loss – KO)
Matt Brown (win – split decision) Fight 2 Renato Moicano (win – unanimous decision)
Darian Weeks (win – unanimous decision) Fight 3 Paul Felder (win – split decision)
Jason Witt (loss – majority decision) Fight 4 Michael Chiesa (loss – unanimous decision)
Anthony Ivy (win – unanimous decision) Fight 5 Leon Edwards (loss – unanimous decision)

Rafael dos Anjos is also maintaining a busy schedule, as he gets set to step into the octagon for the third time in 2022. The former interim welterweight champion claimed victory in two of his past three outings including a unanimous decision win over Renato Moicano at UFC 272.

However, dos Anjos has failed to earn a win fighting as a welterweight since his fourth-round submission win over Kevin Lee three years ago at UFC Fight Night 152, which marks his only victory in six outings at 170 pounds.

Pick: Barbarena (+400)

Other UFC Orlando Picks

  • Emily Ducote (-125): The former Invicta FC women’s strawweight champion is coming off a successful UFC debut, and faces an opponent who has lost seven of nine.
  • Sergei Pavlovich (-210): Fresh off his fourth straight finish inside five minutes, the question isn’t if Pavlovich will KO Tai Tuivasa, but when.
  • Roman Dolidze (+155): After tallying his second straight first-round KO win, Dolidze offers plenty of value as an underdog in his date with veteran Jack Hermansson.
