Pick #1: J.J. McCarthy Over 15.5 Rushing Yards

The first Alabama vs Michigan player prop we are targeting is the “over” on the rushing yards total for Wolverines quarterback J.J. McCarthy. FanDuel has set this number at 15.5, and we think McCarthy gets to 20-plus yards on the ground due to several designed run plays.

Auburn recently showcased a blueprint for (almost) beating Alabama, with QB Payton Thorne carrying the ball 15 times for 57 yards on the ground in the Iron Bowl. Michigan’s run game is already strong with players like Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards, but adding McCarthy’s running abilities could give them an even bigger advantage against Alabama.

In the first seven games of the 2023 season, McCarthy showed great skill with his running abilities. He carried the ball 27 times, gaining 160 yards and scoring three touchdowns. Those numbers dropped off in the ensuing six games, with the junior with 30 carries for a loss of 14 yards.

McCarthy’s decline in rushing yardage has been attributed to a mid-season leg injury, but now he’s had five weeks to rest up and heal ahead of the Rose Bowl. He’s still leveraged 21 rushing yards on the season and we think he will make a few big plays with his legs Saturday.

Alabama’s secondary has been excellent this season, but they’ve actually allowed seven different quarterbacks to rush for 20-plus yards against them. Considering McCarthy’s ability to extend plays combined with the Wolverines only allowing 1.38 sacks per game, this is a player prop bet we like locking in.

  • Pick: J.J. McCarthy Over 15.5 Rushing Yards (-114)

Pick #2: Isaiah Bond Over 52.5 Receiving Yards

Isaiah Bond is an Alabama wide receiver who made us money in the SEC Championship, and we’re coming back to him against Michigan in the Rose Bowl. Bond is catching fire with two 70-plus yard receiving games, and DraftKings is offering his receiving yard total for Monday at 52.5 yards.

Michigan’s secondary has been excellent this season, allowing just 152.6 yards per contest through the air. The Wolverines aren’t impenetrable facing strong passing attacks, however, as recent opponents Maryland and Ohio State both found success through the air against them.

Bond has moved up to second on the Alabama wide receiver depth chart behind Jermaine Burton, and we think he hauls in a bomb or two from Jalen Milroe to get over his player prop total. The speedy sophomore has been targeted 15 times over the past two games, averaging 10.35 yards per target.

Bond has come through in big moments this season, including in that Hail Mary pass from Auburn in the Iron Bowl and catching five passes for 79 yards against Georgia in the SEC Championship game. Unlike many players suiting up in Monday’s Rose Bowl, Bond has proven he can deliver on the big stage.

  • Pick: Isaiah Bond Over 52.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

In the Alabama vs Michigan touchdown scorer props market, Wolverines’ workhorse running back Blake Corum has the best odds to find paydirt at -185. No other player is an odds-on favorite to score a touchdown Monday night.

Odds as of December 31st at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Pick #3: Jase McClellan Anytime TD

When it comes to the Alabama vs Michigan touchdown scorer props, we have our eyes on Crimson Tide running back Jase McClellan as a nice value play (+165 at ESPN Bet ). The senior is set to play Monday after missing the SEC Championship Game with a foot injury.

While McClellan was seen on the sideline after the Iron Bowl in crutches and a medical boot, Nick Saban recently told the media, “Barring some setback, the way he’s practiced, I don’t see why he couldn’t play the game.”

Roydell Williams has stepped up in McClellan’s absence this season, but he doesn’t possess the manipulation tactics and downfield explosiveness of the 5′ 11″, 212 lbs senior. McClellan averaged 70 rushing yards and accumulated three total touchdowns in his last five games.

Michigan’s run defense has been excellent this season, allowing only three touchdowns to FBS running backs this season. However, they gave up three scores on the ground to TCU in their most recent CFP appearance, and McClellan offers further upside due to his pass-catching ability (13 catches, 126 yards).

  • Pick: Jase McClellan Anytime TD (+165)
