Nuggets Continue to Dominate Lakers

The Nuggets have utterly dominated the Lakers, winning 11 straight games against their Western Conference rivals, including a potential second consecutive playoff sweep. In Game 3, Denver rallied from a halftime deficit for the third consecutive game, showcasing their ability to finish strong.

Nikola Jokic led the way with 24 points, 15 rebounds, and nine assists, while Aaron Gordon had a standout performance with 29 points, 15 rebounds, and three assists. Jamal Murray added twenty-two points, and Michael Porter Jr. contributed twenty points and ten rebounds.

Jokic has been unstoppable throughout the series, averaging 27.7 points, 15.7 rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game. His basketball IQ and ability to score from all three levels make him an unguardable nightmare for the Lakers.

Despite shooting below his regular season average, Murray has hit clutch shots, including the game-winner in Game 2. Porter Jr. has been solid, shooting 50% from the field in the last five meetings against the Lakers.

The Nuggets’ depth and versatility have been key factors in their success. They have outrebounded the Lakers in all three games, including a commanding 51-38 advantage in Game 3. Denver’s defense has also been impressive, holding the Lakers to an average of 102 points per game in the series.

Lakers Backs Are Against the Wall

Conversely, the Lakers find themselves in a must-win situation, hoping to avoid elimination on their home court. Despite solid performances from their stars, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Lakers have struggled to maintain leads and close out games.

James is averaging 26.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 9.7 assists in the series, while Davis has been the Lakers’ best player, recording at least thirty-two points and thirteen rebounds in each game.

The Lakers’ supporting cast has been inconsistent. D’Angelo Russell struggled in Game Three, scoring zero points on 0-7 shooting, while Austin Reaves has shot just 31% from three-point range in the series. The Lakers will need more production from their role players to have a chance at extending the series.

Historically, no team has ever overcome a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-seven NBA playoff series.

In his illustrious career, LeBron James has faced a 3-0 deficit only four times, with his teams going 1-3 in those Game Four situations. However, James has averaged 29.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 9.5 assists in those games, often going down swinging.

Player prop odds as of Apr. 27 at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Gordon’s points, rebounds, and assists prop betting total for Game 4 is set at 26.5. During the regular season, he averaged 14 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in about 31.8 minutes per game. In the playoffs, his minutes have increased to 37 per game, and he’s averaging 18 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists.

In last year’s Game Four, with the Nuggets also up 3-0, Gordon posted 22 points, six rebounds, and five assists in 41 minutes as Denver completed the sweep. We expect a similar, if not better, performance from Gordon this time around.

Game 4 Prop Pick:

  • Aaron Gordon Over 26.5 Points, Rebounds & Assists (-110)

Nuggets vs Lakers Game 4 Prediction

If Jokic continues his dominant play and receives support from Murray, Gordon, and Porter Jr., the Nuggets will be in a prime position to advance to the next round. Denver has covered the spread in two of the three games in this series and are 3-2 against the spread in their last five road games.

While the Lakers will undoubtedly come out with a sense of desperation, the Nuggets’ depth and ability to execute in crunch time makes them our best bet for Saturday. Expect another strong performance from Nikola Jokic and a standout game from Aaron Gordon, who has been a key contributor throughout the series.

Look for the Nuggets to complete the sweep and advance to the next round of the playoffs. The Lakers are just are 1-6 ATS in their last seven playoff games as an underdog of 0.5-4.5.

DEN vs LAK Game 4 Pick:

  • Nuggets ML (-170)
