Zhilei Zhang (26-2-1, 21 KOs) is a 6’6″ southpaw from China with heavy hands of his own. The 41-year-old scored two knockdowns in a competitive majority decision loss to Joseph Parker in March. Prior to that, “Big Bang” Zhang scored back-to-back knockouts over the previously undefeated Joe Joyce in 2023.
Zhang is a patient, methodical fighter who looks to cut off the ring and unload power shots when in range. He’s an accurate puncher with good fundamentals and a solid chin. However, his advanced age and conditioning are question marks, as he faded down the stretch against Parker.
Zhang’s keys to victory will be pressuring Wilder, making him uncomfortable, and landing his big left hand. If he can force Wilder to fight going backwards and test his questionable stamina, Zhang has an excellent chance of scoring the stoppage.

Wilder vs Zhang Prediction
This is a true crossroads fight between two aging heavyweights looking for one more title run. Wilder’s power gives him a puncher’s chance, but I believe we’ve already seen the best of the Bronze Bomber. He looked gun-shy and unable to pull the trigger against Parker, and Zhang has the style to give him fits.
I’m picking Zhang to wear Wilder down and score a late stoppage, likely between rounds 7-12 at +380 odds. Wilder’s tendency to stay on the back foot and lack of head movement will be his undoing against a heavy-handed pressure fighter like Zhang. This could sadly be the end of the road for the former long-reigning champion.
For my official plays, I’ll take Zhang to win by KO/TKO at +185 odds. I also like Zhang to win in rounds 7-112 at +380 if you believe he will stop Wilder in the later rounds as he begins to tire. Hopefully we get an exciting fight for however long it lasts.
