The NASCAR Cup Series rolls north up the East Coast for the seventh points event this Sunday, March 30th, with the NASCAR Cook Out 400. The green flag drops just after 3:00 pm EDT, with live coverage again on FOX Network.
The “paperclip” err Martinsville is a 0.526 mile track! Everything happens quickly. Laps go by every 20 seconds or so and sometimes faster. Now, the stage setup is 80-100-220. It is why late long runs can often lead to victory. William Byron (2) and Kyle Larson (1) have won the past three Spring races.

At +450 odds, the implied probability for Ryan Blaney to win stands at 18.18%. Kyle Larson rumbles in at 14.29%, with Denny Hamlin lurking at 13.33%.

NASCAR Cook Out 400 Predictions
Yes, the weather again figures to cooperate once more this Sunday afternoon. There will be Mostly Cloudy conditions, with temperatures around 75 degrees. It is rare for NASCAR to have this kind of streak. Although there remains a slight chance of a shower, that may not occur at all.
Qualifying keeps tossing in some huge wrinkles. Ryan Blaney did have some short-run issues and qualified 32nd. Christopher Bell swooped in and won the pole on Saturday. Bell edged out Chase Elliott by a mere 0.017 seconds. Alex Bowman was 0.003 seconds behind Elliott. Bell was the only one to break a lap over 96 mph.
Honestly, any of the Top 13 cars within a tenth of a second could win or even someone a little off the top tier of qualifying. Blaney’s best lap was 0.301 seconds off of Bell, but his long-run speed in the Team Penske Ford has been incredible at Martinsville. The last four winners on this track have been William Byron, Blaney, Kyle Larson, and Joey Logano.
The “paperclip” is a different kind of race track when the NASCAR drivers are on there. There is none of this craziness or drivers going after drivers. For the most part, this is all about hard racing. Are there exceptions? Sure!
Hopefully, we see none of this like the Xfinity race.
Again, hopefully, Sunday will be a better day, as they say. Remember how long that final stage is. It is 220 laps in all. That often allows for racing to be a little cleaner. Last year, there were five cautions for 51 laps. If the race is mostly clean, I like Christopher Bell to sneak out with a Grandfather Clock.

Top NASCAR Longshots For Martinsville
Hey, I like taking some longshots down the line for the Cook Out 400. Besides, while we wait for some of those updated Top 3 and Top 5 numbers to come in, let us go for the win here!
Always sprinkle a few smaller bets on tracks like this. Though there are four or five chief contenders err dominators, one driver sometimes can have that “it” performance. Both Ryan Preece and especially Bubba Wallace have had fast cars. Wallace nailed some of the fastest practice times and had some excellent 10, 15, and 20 lap runs.
Watch out for more driver specials and props as race time approaches.
How about Wallace? He finished eighth in qualifying. If not for some late wobbles, he might have been among the three or four fastest cars. At +1600, Wallace carries an average finish of 11 with three Top 10 results and one Top 5. Between him and Alex Bowman (+1600 – qualified third), I believe they could be among the two top longer shot choices for Sunday at Martinsville. Let’s get racing and drop that flag!
