Ben Crocker (14-0-1) puts his unbeaten record on the line against Sean McComb (19-2) Saturday night in a super lightweight bout that nobody saw coming.
The Welshman is defending his IBF European title against a fighter most boxers want nothing to do with. Online sportsbooks have McComb as a heavy favorite, and I think the Belfast southpaw outboxes Crocker over 10 rounds.
The fight takes place at the Canon Medical Arena in Sheffield, England, with DAZN handling the broadcast, starting at 2 pm ET.

McComb should’ve had his hand raised against Arnold Barboza Jr last April. Most people watching that fight in Brooklyn thought the Irishman won. Instead, he got a split decision loss that kept him out of the ring for 14 months. Now he’s back, and Crocker decided to step up.
The problem for Crocker is that McComb’s been here before. He’s fought world-level competition, beaten quality domestic fighters like Sam Maxwell and Kaisee Benjamin, and shown he belongs with the best at 140 pounds. The six-foot southpaw uses angles, moves well, and makes opponents miss all night.
Crocker’s coming off a draw with Tiernan Bradley in April where he probably deserved the win. He’s also beaten Stelios Papadopoulos twice, showing he can handle a step up. But McComb is different. This is a huge jump for a fighter who’s mostly fought journeymen until recently.
What works against McComb is the long layoff. He’s only fought once since the Barboza loss, beating journeyman Alexis Torres over six rounds in June. Ring rust is real, and Crocker’s been more active with three fights in 2024.
But I’m betting on class winning out. McComb’s footwork, timing, and defensive skills are too good. He’ll figure out Crocker’s rhythm early and control the pace. Neither fighter has much power – Crocker’s got 2 knockouts in 15 fights, McComb has 5 in 21 – so this is going the distance.
McComb knows what’s at stake. Eddie Hearn mentioned on a recent podcast that bigger fights could be coming if McComb looks good. A win puts him back in the IBF rankings and closer to a shot at Richardson Hitchins. I think McComb wins clearly on the cards, something like 97-93.

McComb opened as a -400 favorite at BetMGM, with Crocker at +333. The odds heavily favor this going the distance at -450, which makes sense given both fighters’ styles and lack of stopping power.
McComb is -200 to win by decision, while Crocker is +500. If you think “The Public Nuisance” gets back to his best after the layoff, the decision line offers better value than the straight moneyline. Neither fighter has been stopped, making the knockout props true longshots.
