#9 Vanderbilt is heading on the road to face #20 Texas in what will be their fourth consecutive ranked matchup. The Commodores have won two of three heading into this SEC showdown.
Texas came back and got a big win against Mississippi State in overtime last week. Arch Manning and the offense have struggled, but they looked to turn the corner against the Bulldogs. Manning is questionable and will be a game-time decision, so it is yet to be seen if he will play or not.
Kickoff for this Top 20 matchup is scheduled for noon ET.
Will Vanderbilt’s run continue, or will Texas get the win at home?

Vanderbilt vs Texas Prediction
This should be yet another exciting game in the SEC. We will find out a lot about this Vanderbilt team on Saturday.
It will be Vanderbilt’s fourth straight game against a ranked opponent, and it is a weird situational spot for the Commodores.
After having College Gameday in Nashville last week and winning a close, emotional game against Missouri, Vanderbilt is going on the road to face the preseason #1 team. It looks like a potential letdown spot after they played potentially the biggest game in program history last week.
Texas could be without their quarterback, Arch Manning. Manning got hurt late last week against Mississippi State and will be a true game-time decision for Texas. Matthew Caldwell will get the start for the Longhorns if Manning can’t go.
Caldwell threw the game-winning touchdown in overtime with his only attempt of the game, so he appears ready for any big moment that could arise in this game.
Regardless of who plays at quarterback, the Longhorns could lean on their running back, Quintrevion Wisner, who has 263 yards and two touchdowns on the ground this season. He has also helped out in the passing game with 16 receptions, 89 yards, and a score through the air.
Texas’s offense has been up and down, but mostly down. I am not concerned about who starts at quarterback because the Longhorns have playmakers all over the field, and more importantly, it will be the defense that wins this game.
The reason the Longhorns are 6-2 is because of their defense. They lead the SEC in allowing just 2.4 yards per rush and 80.8 rushing yards per game. They are also seventh in the country in points per drive and 12th in the nation in yards per drive.
The Longhorns struggled last week against Mississippi State’s aerial attack, but that is not how Vanderbilt will beat you.
They want to run the ball with Diego Pavia and Sedrick Alexander, so it will be difficult for Vanderbilt’s offense to get going in this game.
Pavia struggled last week at home and did not do much against Mizzou. Texas’s defense is right there with Mizzou, and I believe they will struggle to move the ball again.
Points will be at a premium, and I trust Texas to score enough points in this game to get the win at home. They will force Pavia to make some mistakes, giving the Longhorns good field position..

Vanderbilt vs Texas Odds
The college football odds list Texas as a 2.5-point favorite over Vanderbilt. Texas opened as a 3.5-point favorite over the Commodores, but the line has moved in Vanderbilt’s direction.
The O/U in this game is a lower one with two strong defensive units. The total has moved towards the over, however, as the O/U opened at 44.5 before moving to 46.5.

Vanderbilt vs Texas Player Props
The CFB player props for Vanderbilt vs Texas are limited due to the Arch Manning injury, but there are a couple that I like in this game, including Diego Pavia.
Vanderbilt vs Texas Player Prop #1: Eli Stowers Over 40.5 Receiving Yards
Eli Stowers has been Diego Pavia’s favorite target, and Vanderbilt will not have a lot of success running the ball. Mississippi State had success through the air against Texas, so Pavia will have to use his arm. He will be targeting Stowers early and often.
Stowers has hit this number in four of his last six games. As the tight end, he will be closer to the line of scrimmage and be able to help Pavia out against the Texas pass rush.
The Longhorns will sell out to stop Vanderbilt’s ground game, so Stowers could be in for a big day.

Vanderbilt vs Texas Player Prop #2: Diego Pavia Anytime Touchdown
While I do not see Vanderbilt running the ball well in this game, Pavia continues to score touchdowns on the ground. He has five total over his last five games, and has scored a touchdown in four of his last five.
In order to get their ground game working, Pavia could be a big part of that, trying to throw Texas’s defense off guard. Even if his rushing total is not high at the end of the game, when Vanderbilt is in the red zone, they call Pavia’s number often. I like getting plus-money for Pavia to get in the endzone yet again, despite the Longhorns defense being stout against the run.
