Detroit looks like a challenger in the Eastern Conference, coming in with 74 points and tops in the wild card standings. Dylan Larkin looked like a star for Team USA in the Olympics. The 29-year-old has finally become the player Wings fans were hoping for.
Wings winger Alex DeBrincat is twelfth in the NHL with 30 goals this season. He didn’t make the Olympic team and is playing like a man who’s mad about it.
The big story in Nashville is exactly what they are going to do with Stave Stamkos. The 36-year-old has had an incredible season with 30 goals, leading the Preds. Nashville enters three points out of the last wild card spot in the West. Do they deal Stamkos at the deadline (back to Tampa maybe?) and cash in this season, or do they try to chase down one of the last few playoff spots?

It’s the final game of a five-game road trip for Detroit, sandwiched around the Olympic break (what was the score of that gold medal game again?). The Wings got pounded by Carolina 5-2 on Saturday.
Nashville is 16-12 at home this season, and I think the vibe at Bridgestone Arena will be wild with the early start time, giving Nashville a boost. Saros has been the hardest-working goalie in the NHL. He’s allowed the most shots (1,267), made the most saves (1,130) and allowed the most goals (137) in the league this season.
Nashville is coming off a tough 3-2 loss to red-hot Dallas on Saturday. The Predators led 2-0 after one period, but couldn’t hold on and lost in OT.
Nashville has the offensive firepower to match Detroit. Stamkos has really had a good year and has scored in both games since the Olympic break ended. I like the over.
