Nickal is a -333 favorite, an implied probability of about 77%. Daukaus comes back at +260, or roughly 28%. This is a closer line than Nickal’s earlier fights, which speaks to the grappling danger Daukaus carries with his choke game.

Nickal is one of the best wrestlers to enter MMA in years, and his striking has caught up enough to keep opponents honest. Once he closes distance and puts the fight on the mat, his top control gets suffocating.

Daukaus is the real test, though. He’s got a dozen career submissions and loves to snatch necks in scrambles with his D’Arce and guillotine attacks. If Nickal shoots sloppy or gets careless in transition, Daukaus is the type to make him pay.

That’s the swing factor here. Nickal’s takedowns are elite, but his entries can get a little loose, and Daukaus is exactly the kind of opportunist who pounces on a hanging neck. The flip side is that Nickal’s positional control is so good that once he settles into top game, those scrambles dry up.
