Colombia enter their second 2026 World Cup group stage match as heavy betting favorites, looking to build on their opening victory and lock up a knockout stage berth. Standing in their way are a resilient DR Congo side, eager to prove its 1-1 draw against Portugal on matchday 1 was no fluke.

Colombia vs DR Congo kicks off at 10:00 pm ET on Tuesday, June 23, in Zapopan, Mexico.

With a massive favorite pushing the tempo against an underdog built to absorb pressure and counter, where does the actionable betting value reside?

Top Colombia vs DR Congo Picks & Goalscorer Predictions

I am targeting three distinct wagers for this Group K matchup.

Top picks for Colombia vs DR Congo:

  • Colombia 3-Way Moneyline at 64¢ (-178) at Kalshi
  • Under 2.5 Total Goals at 59¢ (-144) at Kalshi
  • Luis Diaz to score 1+ goals at 33¢ (+203) at Kalshi

Under 2.5 Goals

My primary focus is Colombia on the 3-Way Moneyline at 64¢ (-178). Manager Nestor Lorenzo’s South American outfit boasts elite attacking talent, highlighted by dynamic winger Luis Diaz and veteran playmaker James Rodriguez. They will attempt to break down a stingy Congolese defensive block anchored by Chancel Mbemba

Colombia dictates the run of play with extreme prejudice, owning 67.0% ball possession in their opener against overmatched Uzbekistan. They have scored at least once in each of their last six fixtures. DR Congo offers very little threat going forward, managing just eight total shots in their opener against Portugal.

While DR Congo’s defensive block is stingy, Colombia’s relentless volume of pressure is highly likely to break them down eventually.

For my second pick, I am backing under 2.5 goals at 59¢ (-144). DR Congo has proven they are entirely comfortable operating without the ball. They absorbed immense pressure flawlessly against Portugal, restricting them to just three shots on target despite holding only 25% possession.

Lastly, I’m targeting Luis Diaz to score 1+ goals at 33¢ (+203). Since DR Congo will pack the penalty area and eliminate passing lanes, Colombia needs their elite wingers to isolate defenders.

Diaz serves as the focal point of the Colombian attack and has already recorded a goal and an assist in his single tournament appearance. I expect him to find the back of the net as Colombia forces low-block errors.

Colombia is trading at 64¢ (equivalent to -178 American odds). DR Congo sits at 14¢ (+614), and the draw at 23¢ (+335).

A $10 wager on the favored Colombians at 64¢ yields a profit of $5.62 for a $15.62 payout. A $10 bet on the underdog DR Congo at 14¢ returns $61.42 in pure profit for a massive $71.42 total payout.

Recent Form & Match Results: COL vs DRC

Colombia5-0-2158+744.0
DR Congo2-3-275+248.7

Using the latest seven results on record and the provided opponent rankings, Colombia carry the stronger win profile, while DR Congo’s recent defensive numbers remain competitive.

Colombia’s seven-match sample includes Uzbekistan, Jordan, Costa Rica, France, Croatia, Australia, and New Zealand, producing 2.14 goals per match.

Congo’s sample includes Portugal, Chile, Denmark, Jamaica, Algeria, Botswana, and Senegal, with just 0.71 goals conceded per match. That defensive form is the main reason I prefer Colombia to win in a controlled, lower-scoring script rather than a wide-open blowout.

Total Shots158

The statistical breakdown reveals one of the most drastic stylistic mismatches of the opening round. Colombia is apt to dominate the run of play. They are engineered to suffocate opponents.

Congo is reliant on absorbing pressure rather than dictating the tempo. Their hard-earned and not-undeserved 1-1 draw with Portugal proved just how effective their low-block structure can be. However, they lack the offensive volume required to challenge a squad of Colombia’s caliber over 90 minutes.

Injury Reports & Updates

Based on the latest tournament updates, both nations enter this Group K fixture with a clean bill of health. Neither side has any key or star players currently listed as questionable, suspended, or doubtful.

A clean injury report is particularly critical for DR Congo. The African side’s success is predicated on synchronized defending. Having their entire defensive unit available ensures the structure that stifled Portugal remains fully intact.
