Giannis Next Team Odds – Two Teams Heavily Favored

  • The Celtics and Heat are the most likely teams to trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo according to prediction markets
  • Giannis is expected to be traded before or during Tuesday’s NBA Draft
  • Below, you’ll find the latest Giannis next team odds and which teams are most likely to trade for him

After months of speculation and countless rumours, Giannis Antetokounmpo is set to be traded away from Milwaukee, the only NBA home he’s ever known. The Bucks will reportedly deal their superstar before or during Tuesday’s NBA Draft, and prediction markets believe he’s going to one of two Eastern Conference destinations.

Below, you’ll find the updated Giannis next team odds, plus my most likely landing spot for the Bucks star.

As of the time of writing, the Celtics are trading at 58-cents at Kalshi to acquire Antetokounmpo, which is the equivalent of -138 odds in traditional sports betting terms. The Heat are trading at 45 cents (+170) as the next shortest price on the board, while staying in Milwaukee or retiring is the only other option drawing action at 11 cents (+809).

Boston was one of the teams vying for the former NBA MVP odds winner before the trade deadline, but they weren’t ready to part with a premium asset. That’s no longer the case, which explains their rise in this market. I still believe Miami is offering the more compelling package however, which makes them a pretty big value at their current trading price.

The Two Teams Heavily Favored to Trade for Giannis

  • Giannis Next Team Odds Pick: Miami Heat (45¢ at Kalshi)

Just over a month ago, I was urging anyone who would listen to scoop up Heat shares in this market at 10-cents (+900). Now, the price is significantly worse, but I’d rather still buy shares of Miami at plus-money, than lay the juice with the Celtics.

The reason why a team like Boston, the 2024 champs and perennial NBA Championship odds contenders are even bidding for Giannis is due to the Jaylen Brown situation. Brown, who led the Celtics to the East’s number two seed this season without Jayson Tatum for the bulk of the campaign, is reportedly feuding with Celtics management and willing to accept a trade. I doubt Milwaukee would be on his wish list, however he is under contract through the 2028-29 campaign.

Brown and Tatum were thought to be Boston’s Batman and Robin for the next decade. Swapping Brown for Giannis would give the Celtics more size, paint scoring and defense, but it would strip them of one of a premier ball handler and shot creator. If Brown is unhappy, it makes sense for Boston to pursue alternative options in the midst of their championship window, and there are few players you’d rather have than Antetokounmpo.

The problem I see is on the Bucks side. Why acquire a player who won’t be thrilled to join your organization, when you can stockpile young talent and build a nucleus from the ground up, just like the Spurs have done.

That’s where the Heat come in. Not only can Miami offer cost-effective talent that can contribute and help the Bucks stay competitive, but they’re also loaded with capital in the NBA draft odds.

Let’s start with the picks. Miami is picking 13th on Tuesday, and while the Heat can’t trade its 1st round pick prior to the selection, they can make the pick and then include the player as part of any potential deal. They can also include multiple 1st round picks in 2030 and 2032.

In terms of players that can step in right away, Tyler Herro would likely headline the package, along with some combination of young talent like Kel’el Ware and Jamie Jaquez Jr. Miami can also toss in Andrew Wiggins and Davion Mitchell, and while they wouldn’t be in Milwaukee long term plans, their expiring contracts could help make the financial works.

In return, the Heat could make Giannis the latest high-profile superstar to flock to South Beach. He and Bam Adebayo would form one of the most intimidating front courts the league has ever seen, and Miami would return to one of the East’s frontrunners after a down season.

Ultimately, Giannis is in control and the only two teams he’s willing to accept a move to are Boston and Miami. The Celtics can offer up the most talented player, but in one or two years we’ll likely be having the same conversation about Brown leaving. Or, they can take a King’s ransom of picks from Miami, who they can mold into a home grown nucleus, plus a bunch of cost-controlled players who can contribute right away. I know what I would take if I were the Bucks, but we’ll see on Tuesday what they decide.
