Hurricanes vs Golden Knights Odds: Who’s Favored to Win Stanley Cup at 2-2?

  • The Stanley Cup Final is tied 2-2 after Carolina’s Game 4 road win in Vegas
  • It’s a best-of-three now, with the Hurricanes holding home ice for Games 5 and 7
  • See the updated Hurricanes vs Golden Knights series odds and who is favored

The Stanley Cup Final is now a best-of-three. Carolina evened the series at 2-2 with a 5-3 win in Vegas on Tuesday, leading wire-to-wire in regulation for its most complete effort yet. The Hurricanes are right back in control with home ice in their pocket.

That Game 4 statement has nudged the Stanley Cup odds further toward Carolina, and a Game 4 change in net could swing the goaltending battle as the series rolls on.

Here are the updated Hurricanes vs Golden Knights series odds at FanDuel with the Final tied 2-2.

The updated Hurricanes vs Golden Knights odds have Carolina at -152, a 60.3% implied probability to win the Cup, with Vegas at +126. The total games line sits at 6.5 and is basically a coin flip, so the books expect this one to reach a Game 7.

Carolina opened the Final around -150 in the Stanley Cup odds before bouncing between favorite and underdog as the series traded blows. The Game 4 win pushed them to their strongest number yet.

Hurricanes vs Golden Knights Series Recap

This has been a true back-and-forth, with each team winning twice and neither able to string together consecutive wins. The chaos peaked in Game 3, where Vegas built a 4-0 lead behind a Mitch Marner hat trick. Carolina answered with three goals in 39 seconds to tie it late, only to fall 5-4 in double overtime.

Game 4 was the cleanest performance of the series for either side. Carolina jumped out 3-1 in the first and never trailed, with Jordan Staal scoring the go-ahead goal in the third before Nikolaj Ehlers iced it on an empty-netter. Backup Brandon Bussi made his first career playoff start and stopped 18 shots.

Why Carolina Is Favored to Win the Cup

The power play is the difference. Carolina has clicked at 36.4% (4-for-11) through four games while Vegas is frozen at 8.3% (1-for-12). In a series this tight, an edge that wide on special teams can decide a Game 7.

The Canes have won the underlying battle too, outshooting Vegas 116-105 and dominating the faceoff dot 149-122. That puck control feeds the forecheck Rod Brind’Amour’s teams live on, and Carolina hasn’t lost back-to-back games since January.

Jordan Staal has been the story up front. The 38-year-old captain leads the series with five goals and has scored in all four games, the first player to do that in a Cup Final since Mike Bossy in 1982. Vegas center Jack Eichel, by contrast, has zero goals and a minus-3.

The Goaltending Swing

The crease is the other swing factor. Carter Hart has scuffled to a .861 save percentage for Vegas and gave up five goals in Game 4.

On the Carolina side, Brind’Amour pulled a struggling Frederik Andersen and handed the net to Brandon Bussi, who answered with an 18-save win in his first playoff start. If he carries that into Game 5, Bussi could inject some life into a spot that had been a problem for the Canes.

Home Ice and the Game 5 Edge

Home ice seals it. Game 5 is Thursday at Lenovo Center, and a Game 7 would land in Raleigh too. History likes the Canes here, as the road team that wins Game 4 to even a series at 2-2 goes on to take it about 59% of the time. My original Hurricanes in 6 prediction is still in play with Carolina holding the better hand down the stretch.
