Japan rolls into this Group F clash as a heavy favorite against a Tunisia side fighting to stay alive. Tunisia is reeling after an ugly opening loss, while Japan turned its opener into a point and now eyes a deep tournament run.

Kickoff is 12:00 a.m. ET on Sunday, June 21, at Estadio Monterrey in Guadalupe, Mexico.

The sharp money paints a grim picture for Tunisia. There’s one curveball, though: Japan’s playmaker, Takefusa Kubo, is out with an injury. Even so, Japan still has the clinical Daichi Kamada to punish a leaky Tunisia back line.

Let’s break down my picks, the top goalscorer props, and the latest odds.

Tunisia vs Japan Picks & Goalscorer Props

My Tunisia vs Japan picks center on one thing: a huge mismatch in the final third. Japan is sharp and direct, while Tunisia is bleeding goals. Here are my three best bets, including the top goalscorer prop.

Moneyline Pick: Japan 3-Way Moneyline (-222 at Kalshi)

Kalshi
Japan
69%

Japan generated eight shots and stayed compact in their 2-2 draw with the Netherlands. Tunisia just conceded five in a defensive collapse, leaving their back line in pieces. Backing Japan at 69¢ on Kalshi is my foundation play, and I’m happy to build around it.

Total-Goals Pick: Over 2.5 (+113 at Kalshi)

Kalshi
Over 2.5 goals scored
47%

Both nations have sailed over 2.5 goals in every match this tournament. Tunisia’s games are averaging 6.0 total goals, while Japan’s sit at 4.0. Getting a high-scoring game at plus-money (47¢ on Kalshi) is strong value with Tunisia’s defense in free fall.

With Kubo out, Kamada should command more touches in dangerous areas. He scored in Japan’s opener and now faces a defense shipping 5.0 goals a game.

Score Bet (formerly ESPN Bet) gives him only a 16.4% implied chance to find the net, and I think that’s far too low at +508. Lock in the theScore Bet promo code before you back him.

The Tunisia vs Japan odds line the Samurai Blue up as a clear favorite. Japan sits at 69¢ (-222) on Kalshi, while a Tunisia upset is a +733 longshot (12¢). The draw lands at +376.

Strip out the juice and Japan has a 67.6% win chance. The draw checks in at 20.6%, and Tunisia gets just 11.8%.

A $10 bet on Japan returns $14.50 total, so there’s little standalone value laying that price. That same $10 on a Tunisia shocker would pay $83.30. Shop the World Cup betting apps for the best number before you bet.

The total opened with the under favored, but after Tunisia’s defensive meltdown the over got bet up from +125 to +113. The market is bracing for goals.

The Tunisia vs Japan head-to-head history leans heavily toward the Samurai Blue. These two have met six times, with Japan winning five and Tunisia just once. Japan has also outscored Tunisia 8-3 across those meetings, including a 2-0 win in their most recent clash at the 2023 Kirin Challenge Cup.

Recent history backs my read here. Japan has handled Tunisia in past friendlies, and the North Africans walk in on a three-game losing skid. The trend lines up neatly with my Japan picks.

Tunisia vs Japan Recent Form & Team Stats

Rankings are specific to Group F.

The Tunisia vs Japan team stats spell out the gap. Tunisia holds 51% possession but does nothing with it, managing just 5.0 shots a game. They control the ball without ever dictating play.

Japan flips that profile. They see only 40% of the ball but are direct and clinical on the counter, soaking up pressure and striking fast. With Japan scoring 2.0 a game and Tunisia conceding 5.0, the numbers point to a one-sided result.

Tunisia vs Japan Injury Report

The Tunisia vs Japan injury report centers on one name: Takefusa Kubo. The Real Sociedad playmaker is officially out, and he was the man tipped to carve up Tunisia’s shaky back line.

Without Kubo creating, more of the load falls on Kamada in the final third, which only strengthens my goalscorer prop. Tunisia lists no key players as out, so they’re at full strength — even if the form is ugly.
