US Open Live Picks & Predictions for Round 2

  • Wyndham Clark leads the US Open by four strokes as Round 1 still needs to be completed Friday morning
  • Seven past US Open Champions are in the top-nine golfers, including Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm
  • See my 2026 US Open picks, best value bets, and the odds to win heading into Friday’s round

The first round of the 2026 US Open started but then was delayed for two hours by heavy fog, meaning not everyone in the field was able to complete 18 holes. As it stands following Thursday, 2023 champion Wyndham Clark is ahead by four shots through 16 holes, as he was someone I picked in the US Open first-round leader odds.

There are a ton of luminaries behind him, including 2021 winner Jon Rahm, who is tied for second, and this year’s Masters champ Rory McIlroy, who is a shot behind Rahm, and inside the top-10 golfers. World #1 Scottie Scheffler had a middling open round, shooting +2, 72, meaning he’s already eight behind. He was the favorite entering the tournament in the US Open odds. Keep reading to see the updated odds and my picks to win the trophy come Sunday evening.

Jon Rahm Primed for Victory

The player I’m zeroing in on is 2021 US Open and 2023 Masters winner Jon Rahm. He sits at -2, in a tie for second place, with five holes to go for his first round. He was second in strokes gained: short game on Thursday, which will be imperative for success throughout the weekend. The fiery Spaniard was runner-up last month at the PGA Championship, proving he’s super close to regaining his old form.

Rahm has won twice this year on LIV, and has also racked up four other second place showings, as he’s put together a very strong 2026. Pre-tourney, he was the third choice to win his third career major, and I don’t see why he can’t get it done yet again come Sunday. I love that he has five holes left to play, and can take advantage early Friday with relatively benign conditions and perfectly rolled greens.

Live US Open 2026 Picks & Value Bets Entering Round 2

  1. Bryson DeChambeau +1600: Two-time US Open winner Bryson DeChambeau (2020, 2024), is -1 with two holes left in his first round. He was a ball striking savant on day one, hitting twelve of 13 fairways and eleven of 16 greens, and gained +2.55 strokes on the greens compared to his competitors. Sure, Bryson has strangely missed the cut in the first two majors of 2026, but with his recent pedigree at this event, when he gets in contention, he can take it the distance.
  2. Cameron Young +5000: Cameron Young had a fairly uncharacteristic Thursday, shooting two-over par 72. However, I believe it was an anomaly, rather than the rule. Young, who has won the Players Championship and Cadillac Championship in 2026, was 116th in SG: off-the-tee, but on the campaign, he’s tenth. He also started slowly at this year’s Masters (six back), then roared back to be co-leader after 54 holes. I think he’ll course correct for that, meaning his +5000 odds are super juicy, considering he was the +2000 fifth favorite entering the week.
