The scheduled first-round match between Dino Prizmic and Cruz Hewitt at the Winston-Salem Open was cancelled because Dino Prizmic withdrew from the tournament due to an injury.
Following the withdrawal, tournament organizers announced that Cruz Hewitt would instead face a lucky loser, confirmed late Sunday to be 22-year-old American Sebastian Gorzny. That match goes at 3:30pm ET from Stadium Court on Monday.
Round of 64 Predictions and Best Bets
- Pick: Adam Walton vs Jesper De Jong Best Bet: Over 22.5 Games (-104 at Kalshi)
Walton and De Jong are separated by just 5.5 points in overall Elo, with Walton at 1,703.5 and De Jong at 1,698.0. The surface-specific numbers give Walton a larger edge on hard courts—1,661.8 to 1,600.6—but that is still not the profile of a matchup where one player should be expected to run away with it.
Walton’s recent hard-court results reinforce the competitive read: he has beaten Ignacio Buse and Nicolas Mejia in straight sets, but also pushed through a three-setter against Thanasi Kokkinakis and has recently lost tight matches to Valentin Svrcina and Michael Zheng. De Jong enters after hard-court wins over Nicolai Budkov Kjaer and Dane Sweeny, giving both players current wins and confidence on the surface.
The 52-week numbers show why each side can make this a long match. Walton has the better overall dominance ratio (1.087 to 1.035), breakpoint-prevail ratio (1.098 to 1.005), service-games-won rate (80.9% to 76.4%) and second-serve points won (52.4% to 47.4%). De Jong, however, owns the stronger return profile, winning 31.5% of first-serve return points, 50.4% of second-serve return points and 24.3% of return games compared with Walton’s 28.4%, 48.5% and 21.0%, respectively.
De Jong has also won 57.1% of his tiebreaks, while Walton is at 45.0%. With Walton more likely to hold and De Jong better equipped to pressure return games, the matchup has several routes to tight sets or a deciding set. There is no previous head-to-head meeting to suggest a one-sided tactical advantage, making Over 22.5 games the preferred play.
