College Football Picks Today: Best Bets for Week 2 CFB (Sep 12)

  • My college football picks today focus on three Week 2 matchups.
  • Look for mismatches in turnover differentials and third-down efficiency.
  • Read below for my top college football picks today.

Week 2 sends several ranked college football teams on the road, while conference games add to Saturday’s spread betting options. My card focuses on three matchups from that schedule.

Offensive efficiency and turnover margins shape the selections. I’m looking at how those factors can affect the final margin, alongside the number each team needs to cover.

Below are my college football picks today, with the odds and matchup analysis behind each Week 2 best bet.

College Football Picks Today

Matchup Pick Odds Sportsbook
Oklahoma vs Michigan Oklahoma -4.5 -112 BetMGM
Oregon vs Oklahoma State Oregon -23.5 -110 bet365
Arizona vs BYU BYU -7.5 -109 Caesars

College Football Pick Today #1: Oklahoma -4.5

Oklahoma opened with 51 points and converted 54.5% of its third downs. Michigan managed 13 points and 276 total yards, with three turnovers disrupting its offense. The Sooners have the stronger foundation for sustaining drives in this matchup.

I expect Oklahoma to put Michigan under pressure by keeping its offense on the field. The Wolverines converted only 30.0% of their third downs in the opener, a gap that supports backing the Sooners through BetMGM.

Michigan ran only 12 plays in Western Michigan’s territory and held possession for just 19:52 in its opener. Oklahoma brings a defense that allowed only 15.5 points and 272.5 yards per game in 2025. That combination gives the Sooners a strong chance to control field position and is why I’m backing Oklahoma -4.5.

Pick: Oklahoma -4.5 (-110 at BetMGM)

College Football Pick Today #2: Oregon -23.5

Oregon scored 34 points in its opener and converted every red-zone possession into points. Oklahoma State managed just 10 points and finished with a -3 turnover margin. That contrast makes the Ducks one of my college football best bets today.

Oklahoma State’s 31.2% third-down conversion rate points to difficulty extending possessions. I expect Oregon to win that battle and give its offense enough opportunities to pull away. I’m backing the Ducks against the spread at bet365.

Oregon has produced 108 plays of at least 20 scrimmage yards since the start of 2025, the most in the FBS. That explosive-play production is the separation factor behind this college football pick. Against a Cowboys offense struggling to sustain drives, I’m backing the Ducks to build the margin needed to cover -23.5.

Pick: Oregon -23.5 (-110 at bet365)

College Football Pick Today #3: BYU -7.5

BYU opened with 63 points and an 81.8% third-down conversion rate. Arizona scored 35 points but finished with a -2 turnover margin, compared with BYU’s +4. Ball security and sustained possessions are central to my handicap.

I expect BYU to use its ground game to control possession and make Arizona work for every scoring opportunity. That approach makes the Cougars my preferred side at Caesars.

BYU rushed for 308 yards in its 63-7 opening win, converting nine of 11 third downs. The Cougars also own a 24-4 record and an FBS-leading 42 interceptions since the start of 2024. That sustained success on both sides of the ball strengthens my case for BYU -7.5.

Pick: BYU -7.5 (-110 at Caesars)
