Houston vs Texas Tech Player Props – Best Bets & Same-Game Parlay Picks

  • My Houston vs Texas Tech player props include a plus-money passing touchdown pick
  • Rushing production and red-zone opportunities shape these Friday best bets
  • See my Houston vs Texas Tech prop bets, as well as a same-game parlay pick

Undefeated Big 12 squads clash in Week 3, when the Houston Cougars visit the Texas Tech Red Raiders — a matchup featuring two offenses with different early strengths. Houston has done much of its work on the ground, while Texas Tech has scored on every red-zone trip through two games.

That makes plenty of options available when looking through the available college football player props.

My Houston vs Texas Tech player props focus on Makhi Hughes, J’Koby Williams and Will Hammond. The three individual picks come first, followed by a possible same-game parlay combination.

Action kicks off Friday night at 8pm ET from Galaxy Stadium in Lubbock, TX, with FOX providing the broadcast coverage.

Prop Bet #1: Makhi Hughes Rushing Yards

Houston has gained 616 rushing yards through two games, making its running game the strongest starting point for this prop. The Cougars are averaging 562 total yards and 55 points per game, with enough offensive production to keep drives from depending entirely on difficult passing situations.

Hughes rushed for 98 yards against Oregon State in the opener, well above the 54 he needs here. He also has 14 career 100-yard rushing games, giving this pick a stronger foundation than Houston’s team production alone.

The concern is a Texas Tech lead that pushes Houston toward the pass. I like the Over at 53.5 because the Cougars have shown a reason to keep running while the game remains competitive, rather than abandoning what has worked early in the season.

Makhi Hughes Over 53.5 Rushing Yards (-115 at DraftKings)

Prop Bet #2: J’Koby Williams Anytime Touchdown

Texas Tech has scored on all eight red-zone possessions through two games. That is a scoring rate rather than a touchdown rate, but the Red Raiders have consistently put themselves in position to finish drives with points.

Williams has caught 10 passes through two games, tied for second among FBS running backs. That receiving role gives him another route to a touchdown, although Cameron Dickey’s 15 rushing scores since the start of 2025 show why Williams should not be treated as the only goal-line option.

An anytime-touchdown prop remains sensitive to how an offense finishes its possessions. A field goal or a score by another player does nothing for this ticket, so I prefer a modest stake at -119 rather than treating team scoring success as a guarantee for Williams.

J’Koby Williams anytime touchdown (-119 at Caesars)

Prop Bet #3: Will Hammond TD Passes

Hammond has completed 46 of 60 passes, a 76.7% rate that ranks fourth among FBS quarterbacks with at least 60 attempts this season. He needs two touchdown passes here, and that early accuracy strengthens the case for the plus-money Over.

Houston’s offensive output also matters here. If the Cougars keep scoring, Texas Tech has a reason to keep attacking through the air instead of protecting a comfortable lead. The risk is that its touchdowns come on the ground, which would help the team without helping this bet.

• Will Hammond Over 1.5 passing touchdowns (+102 at FanDuel)

Houston vs Texas Tech Same-Game Parlay Picks

My proposed combination is Hughes Over 53.5 rushing yards, Williams anytime touchdown and Hammond Over 1.5 passing touchdowns. It calls for Houston to remain competitive enough to keep running while Texas Tech finishes multiple drives with touchdowns.

I prefer the individual wagers because Williams and Hammond can compete for the same scoring opportunities. If combining them, check the sportsbook’s final same-game parlay quote; the individual odds cannot simply be multiplied to price this ticket.
